As Fragger's building and CVG's drinking Guinness I played solo today.
When I got to the club, there was a group of 3 teeing off, a 4 ball of Ladies behind and a 2 ball waiting too.
I asked in the shop if I could go off the 10th - firstly to save me having to grow old waiting and secondly to free up space on the first.
"No" came the answer - nobody can tee off the 10th until 9.30....

What the.......?

So I waited while the 3 Muppets took nearly 15 minutes to play the first, then watched the Ladies take 5 minutes to tee off - walked back to the shop and pleaded to be let off the 10th - it was now 9.12, 6 minutes to my tee time.
Still no joy.
AS I went back out, a single who had started at 7.45 was finishing the 9th and walking to the 10th - he then played and went on his way.

So if someone can play 1-9 and then play the 10th before 9.30, what harm would there have been in letting me out at 9..?
It would have been easy to feed back into the stream of groups when I came round as, come 10.30 it all goes quiet.......

Fortunately I got through all groups by the 5th and had a clear course in front of me but if not I'd still be there now............

Also the par 3 short course is closed until 9.30 - what is it about 9.30 that's so special around here..?

Anyone else got some stupid rules they want to let off steam about..?

Totally the oposite at my club, they like to get everyone out on the course as quickly as possible so you just pick a tee and off you go. Really cannot see any point in causing congestion on the 1st. Most people I know want to be out on the course well before 9.30 so seems mad to not get everyone moving and spread out on the course asap. Surely the main benefit of having 2 starting points is to reduce queuing.

Just don't try and cut in on the 10th tee if you've just come off the 27th, you will be met with a wrath of fury from most members! ;)

We're not suppose to go off the 10th until 9.30 and 10.30 to allow the early starters a chance to get round and get off. What happens every weekend. There's a queue on the 1st and so we get round to find at leat one if not more groups on the hole. Slows it all down to a crawl and all pace of play is lost and tempo gets knackered. They are suppose to let us through but never do and the pro shop is suppose to monitor it. Shouldn't be that hard as its about 10 feet from the pro shop door to the 10th tee box

With the layout of our course, there is a sign that says no play from the 14th until 9.30. This, is so that the green staff are able to get round, and have priority. I would guess it could be something similar at your place

In my home club both 1st and 10th tees are used. 2 and 4-balls have designated alternating 2-hour slots on each tee; 3-balls can start from either. Groups moving from 9th to 10th, and 18th to 1st, dovetail with those that are about to tee off. It's worked for the 40 years I've been playing there

I would have to understand why? before judging the stupidity!

Not that I got another answer but to me the stupidity is that someone had already gone off the 10th - albeit their 10th hole and it was before 9.30
If you can't play from the 10th for a specific reason before a certain time then you have to make sure that nobody does.......

Not come across any stupid rules at Richings Park (so far anyway).
Few sensible ones like:
No changing in the car park (shoes are fine)
No spikes in the club house but we do have a 'Spike Bar'

On the negative I really do think they need to sort out some of the barmaids as many of them are just plain ignorant and seem to think folding napkins is more important than serving people at the bar.
Outside tables need some bloody cleaning too.

Membership cards seem to take months to come though too (Paid on 2nd March and got my card last Sunday).

Other than that, everything else seems rosy.
