Strong hybrid question

I currently use a 19 degree Callaway x2 Hot regular shafted hybrid. With a decent swing it goes up to about 210 yards. My 3 wood is a Mizuno MX 700 and goes up to 230 yards

I'd like to find a hybrid that could replace the 3 wood but it needs to be as easy to hit as the Callaway but as long as the Mizuno - any ideas?

Hybrids under 16 degrees are hard to come by. Is there a particular reason that you want one over a wood?

I prefer my hybrids as they are lower launching (17/20 degree) but am trying to find a low launch 3 wood too.

I find the hybrid easier to hit, both off the deck and from a tee. To be fair, I used my 3 wood yesterday off the deck twice and purred loudly after each hit, but, overall the hybrid gives better results

I shall look for it and try it tomorrow all being well, but when I did a club fitting at Callaway they said that they had nothing that went better than the 19* for me. Thanks for pointing me in that direction

Got a TM jetspeed 2 hybrid. I'm not a big hitter but it goes about 225 for me. It's 17* stiff Flex

I find the hybrid easier to hit

...because it has more loft and is a shorter playing length.

For a hybrid to play as long as a 3 wood, it requires less loft and a longer playing length which then becomes more difficult to hit. And it should only go further if your 3 wood is a poor fit for your swing or you don't strike your 3 wood consistently well.

You can get really loft hybrids, for example an Adams XTD at 16* which you could adjust down to 14.5*. In my experience, however, I'd still expect your longest with a 3 wood to be longer than your longest with a low lofted hybrid... although your average length could well be a different story.

You could consider a 4 wood with a shortened shaft, which would probably give you just as much distance but more control. And you will be able to get a shaft which gives a low flight.

Yep agree that 4 Wood would certainly be worth trying - ( or HL 3 Wood )

Low lofted hybrids tend to be slightly more unforgiving than 3 woods.

3 woods tend to have bigger faces so easier to hit.

I won't recommend the a12 pro 16degree. Need to be an awsœme ball striker to get the best out of it.
