afternoon all

I have had some contact from Mill Ride GC with reference to a thread on the GM forum entitled 'Mill Ride gone bust?'

The thread contained a number of inacurate statements/hearsay which could be potentially damaging to the club's trading so I have suspended the thread.

Below is a statement from the club on the current situation which I have agreed to post on the forum.

If any one has any further queries can I suggest you contact the club directly

Thanks
Mike

Statement from Mill Ride Golf Club
In response to the recent comments regarding Mill Ride Golf Club, a company British Ensign Estates (owned by the majority shareholder of British Ensign Golf) was put into voluntary liquidation due to a restructuring of the group. This company has no financial connection with Country Club Group and Mill Ride Golf Club continues to trade successfully.

Good that the club's owners responded directly, and well done to GM for giving right of reply.

Deafening silence from those members of rival clubs who were crowing about Mill Ride. :blah:

Worth remembering that spike bar chit chat is one thing, but this forum is read by thousands of people, and commercially damaging rumours can ultimately cost jobs of those that work at the club itself. :(

There were some very strong opinions dressed up as fact that apparently came from a reliable source, blah blah blah indeed.

No retraction asked for re the accusations made about the quality of Royal Ascot though;)

Didn't really see the point. Mike has made the clubs position crystal clear despite what I and several others have been told face to face by club members and staff members. Not sure what the necessity to apologise for an opinion on the state of the current condition of the course is about and that I thought it doesn't drain very well in Winter months. Said all I want to on the subject and this sounds like an attempt at stirring

Glad to hear they are still going strong (although I do wonder how the liquidated company, owned by the majority shareholder, can have no financial connection). The members who have 'crossed over' from Ascot to Mill Ride only a few months ago can rest easy

Quite easily, just completely independent subsidiaries of the parent company with no inter-company lending/contracts in place.

Says they went into "voluntary" liquidation, sounds to me like the company was set up to manage a particular asset(s) which it has no wish to keep any more.

I have no knowledge of the companies or the courses/clubs involved by the way :)
