I am starting back up golf after a 4 year break and looking for advice on how i should go about restarting equipment wise and golf club membership.

I am currently only in a position to make a cash payment or pay over time for either a new set of clubs or a membership at a golf club.

I have a set of clubs which are a full hippo starter set which are around ten years old in average condition however the driver has a dent on the top of it, wondering which would be my best bet either persevering with the clubs i have and joining a club so can play regular, or purchasing new clubs and not getting out to play as regular.

If so which clubs would suit a beginner starting up again, i don't have crazy amounts of money to spend so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Ebays probably the best place to start mate. Can get good clubs at decent prices either buying irons as sets or individually. Then same with a driver, 3 wood and putter.
