Stableford?

I don't see what the problem is.

Golf is golf is golf as far as I'm concerned. As long as it's a qualifier, I'm happy.

No mention of problem! :D

Just a comment for discussion

Hate stableford. It's a hackers charter.

I do tend to agree.

I played yesterday at Chart Hills in Kent. Played with PN-Wokingham and a very good lady golfer, plays off 8.
She (not PN-Wokingham ;)) hit the ball superbly. Her drives were spot on, great distance, straight as an arrow. I don't think she missed a fairway. Her irons shots were a delight, whether she was hitting a 9 iron or a 4. Crisp, good distance again, and most of them tracked like radar to the target. It really was a pleasure to watch her play.
She scored 36 points.
Me? I nobbed my way around. I didn't hit one shot that I was proud of. I rode my luck in places, lost a couple of balls along the way, visited a couple of water hazards, plenty of bunkers etc. had 3 or 4 "blobs" yet still scored 31 points. Only 5 less than her.
In terms of ball striking and consistency of play the difference between us was like night and day.
Had we been playing a medal she would have shot a gross 80.
Me? I'd have shot myself

Nearly all medal rounds at my club, three per week, Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday - Stableford played during the early season when growing conditions leave the greens/ fairways 'iffy'!
We even have one Cup where the sixteen qualifers play MEDAL play in the knock out stages!! Cards marked and count back if required and NO gimmies allowed and cards returned after each knock out round.
