I'm playing in a comp at the Eden course Sept 26th. I wonder if I should try to play the Old Course on the Saturday. It will be good opportunity since I am rarely anywhere near it, I know my chances are slim of rolling up and playing or entering the ballot but what do you think? Go for it? Whats the likelyhood? Your thoughts on the Old Course or alternative will be much appreciated.

No gaurantee youll get on mate. The brother was hoping to play before he emmigrates, were in the draw today and never got on for tommorow either

Will it be £91 well spent? Would like to see what its like to play after seeing the open on the telly. The road hole and walking over the bridge on the 18th.....

Please share your experience if you've played there.

I played it twice last year and it's awesome, everyone watching you on the first you get a really good feeling. I played with members and they entered the ballot and got a time no bother. It's definately worth the money because it's an open venue and the name says it all!

I have just got back from 10 rounds in five days around Scotland and played the Old Course on Monday morning.

Shot an 80 in spite of playing like a nob on the front nine. Parred 17 with a sandsave from the Road Hole bunker.

Also played the Eden, Jubilee, New and Castle Courses at St.Andrews, Carnoustie, Machrihanish, Machrihanish Dunes, Turnberry and finished at Southerness this morning.

Will do some reviews over the next week or so on all of them.
