If it's the same one (I'm sure it is) the starter lady in question is lovely, she was great the day I went off, I think she really gets what it means to us even after seeing 1000s through I'm sure. Tip of the cap to her.

There is another marshal who works the first tee by the name of JJ - he is a legend. Last time I was there, I was talking to him about my ambition of breaking 80 round the Old Course. He sees me out on the loop when I was +2 and was giving me positive encouragement to achieve it. Next day I am walking through the town and he calls out to me from 50 yards away, comes over for a chat to ask me if I did it. I did indeed shoot 77 and I swear he was more pleased than I was. A true credit to the links and what St.Andrews is all about.

I am still in touch with the three guys I played with as we all met by 4am in the queue and wound up getting out together. To quote a famous ice hockey line, "today we walk together forever".
