A friend and I are probably going to do the St Andrews Winter Golf Package in early March (following a helpful tip from a forumer ;) ). You get three rounds of golf - one of which is on the Old Course (never played and very excited).

I think you can play any of the others, so I was looking for some feedback on what other two St Andrews courses to play. :)

I haven't played it myself has had some mixed reviews to say the least. Apparently a number of greens are due to be reconstructed due to them being crazy putting like at present. As for your trip I am sure the course is closed until 1st April, 2010.

Ok, forget that then. Old, New & Jubilee it is then! Anyone with any recommendations for hotels, guest houses, bars, restaurants or kebab houses there! :D

Got to make sure you have a trip to The Dunvegan Pub!!

Just a wee flick from the 18th and a great pub full of golf pictures etc. Also Greyfriars a good bar,The Pilmour which is between these 2 is good for a bit of local talent sometimes!

We usually stay in the Dunvegan but loads of quality b&b's in the town...check out www.tripadvisor.com.

Jubilee, New, Old. Played all three year b4 last, I thought the Jubilee was by far the harder of the 3. May want to ask about work on the greens. I was at a few events in the Old Course hotel Jan, Feb, March last year and there was lots of hollow tining going on.

My friend still hasn't managed to get permission from his better half and there aren't many tee times left, so a couple of questions.

What do you think the chances of getting a round on the Old Course via the ballot would be?

And secondly, if we couldn't play one of the New or Jubilee courses which other course would you play?

Cheers! :)

The ballot is a lottery.

As for which course...I prefer the Jubilee, the new gets a huge amount of praise but for me overall the Jubilee is the better of the 2...both great though so you won't be disappointed in either.

Just get it booked and tell him to tell her who's boss....man or a mouse?? Sound like you'll need to pass him the cheese! ;)
