If it’s for being a personality then why did Gazza or George Best not win it multiple times?

If it’s sporting achievement then give it to the most deserving which this year must be Rory seeing he is the first British person to achieve what he has in history.

It's nothing to do with their personality in that sense. The word is used in this context:

If it's based on Sporting achievement then it should always go to someone playing a singular sport representing themselves against the field not a team player. Lando has ended a domination of Verstappen in F1, Rory became the first British player to complete the Grand slam so both of those achievements outweigh what a team did as a collective. Littler shouldn't even be in the running that's based on my own Bias to not believing darts should qualify as an actual sport because ultimately it's a pub game.

The show used to be about the review of the year and the best accomplishments of those in that year, but since the Beeb effectively binned of any decent live sport they should also bin this award off to, just another thing for me to not watch on the BBC as I couldn't careless who wins.

Would you not class Llando as part of a team. He is hugely reliant on his team of engineers and designers.

No I wouldn’t. He still has to drive the car and beat what’s in front of him. You could argue the same for Rory and his team of coaches, trainers, caddy etc. he still had to. Swing the club like Lando has to drive the car.

Couldn’t care less who won ultimately as it’s a non entity of an award from a broadcaster that has no decent free to air sport so it’s very much an irrelevance these days.
