Glad Hoy got the recognition his dedication deserved. I agree that the event has become overdone. In the good old days of Colman, Pickering, Weeks and Carpenter (anyone remember SPortsnight on a Wednesday evening?) the main sports had a solid section of the show. There were more fun events too and loads of outtake clips. Now it seems each sport has a 30 second-2 minute montage to inappropriate music, badly concieved interviews and endless plugging of the phone numbers.

It needs to either get back to its roots (will never happen) become smaller and shorter (will never happen) have a shorter final selection to choos from (will never happen) and better presenters (won't happen with Lineker there)

I'm glad Hamilton didn't win but it is only worth watching for the last 5 minutes for the result. The only thing on the show of any merit was the award to Bobby Charlton (who incidentally looked quite ill and was shaking a lot - does anyone know if he has Parkinsons etc)
