Following on from Gibbo's post about Golf snobs I was playing at Dornoch yesterday with Patrick148. It was getting a little slow as we were following the customary Sherman 4 ball. In front of them were a couple of Japs and a Canadian pair.

Anyway, came to the 17th green and came across a huge gob not more that 10 feet from the hole....it wasn't in my line but missed my putt (which gave the match to Patrick...) as i was put of by the sight...how disgusting is that?

It seems that the Shermans have this necessity to spit...why is that?

Seems like the world is one big spittoon for those guys!.

So what would happen if it was in someone's line? Should there be another inclusion in the rule book for 'casual gob'? Or perhaps a GUR....!

Disgusting... The punishment should be the offender put in the stocks so the members can greeny all over them!!!

How did you know it was one of the Americans that did it ?

It is a revolting habit. If all professional sportsmen in any sport were fined £1000 for each time they were seen doing this in public view the habit might cease.

This is why i get annoyed when i see people whinging about how other people dress.....

A person should be judged by their behaviour on the course, not what they look like. Spitting is obviously out of order and i ask you this....who would you rather have on the course....

the immaculately dressed **** who spits, hits the ball at people, holds people up and has no manners.

or the man wearing an untucked polo shirt, his hat on backwards and filthy shoes, but behaves impeccably.

No brainer surely...and yet some people consider dress code to be as important as etiquette.

I thought it was the fact I was inside 10 feet in two while you were outside that in five that won the match rather than some big glob of spit:)

the one that gets me is the finger blocking one nostril and the big blow down the other as if trying to unblock an artery!!!!!!!! why,and normally as i am putting or on my back swing.

It's the dirty gits who decide that during your putting stroke is the best time to hock and entice all the phlegm of the last 30 years off their chest - then gob the lot into some form of brickies omlette on the ground.

That is more like bad etiquette or trying to put you off.

No, my maths is fine:)

2nd duffed in the rough, hack that didn't come out, drop, chip.......5 ;)

OK, you got me on that one! :p

But I thought I did quite well not losing by too much given the way you were playing! A bit tricky to keep up with a 76 gross off an 8 handicap! ;) And I was disadvantaged with the stupid putter and the white 3 wood, and not the mention the dodgy lines off the tee you were giving me.....;)

Not making excuses or anything!

I'm not an eight handicapper old boy, i'm 8.7 which is 9;)

Might not be for much longer, played against the club captain last night off the whites and shot a 73 gross and took a few quid off him and he was not best pleased.

Only one birdie though 4 bogeys the rest pars;)

Even had a tap in par on the 16th where i imploded in saturday.

Back to a west wind as well, makes a real difference around nairn.
