With the recent behavior of a number of golfers on the course deteriorating with spitting, openly cursing, and club throwing do you think it is time for both the Pga and European tours officials to step in and start fineing and or suspending players for the next however tournaments before this becomes the norm and pro golfers begin to act like some footballers?

Use the yellow/red card system.
1 instance of bad behaviour(defined by the Players Commitee) = a yellow card.
A second offence in the same tournament = red card and immediate suspension from the next tournament due to be played.
3 yellow cards during a season and the same suspension comes in.
And the missed events have to be ones that they have entered or be eligable for - not just the Kazakstan Open that just happens to be next week

I think its an issue that needs addressing but not sure whether publicly cautioning players is the way. I think its up to the players committee to get way tougher but to deal with the matter privately although I agree that the yellow and red cards system (behind closed doors) might work.

I appreciate what you are saying and i do think it is discusting when someone is filmed spitting, however its human nature the same as breaking wind, some people do it more than others, also some people produce more saliva than others, another consideration could be the climate, more flies, bugs etc.golf will never turn into football funnily enough golf has got an etiquette that most people abide by .Also its only the very few that throw clubs and generally it effects there game more than the player there playing with as you know its getting under there skin, lol thats wat i do

What will be will be. I see players spitting on my course and I'm sure it goes on everywhere albeit usually fairly discreetly. Of course the players with cameras on them all the time are unable to wait until the right moment. I think this is a case of the golf press and media manufacturing a story to give them (and us I suppose) something to talk about.

I think we should see more Ken Brown style club smashing. It shows they're human.

Spitting spreads disease - breaking wind doesn't.

Yep - I agree! Anyone caught doing that has to wear a pair of Poulter's trousers for a round! :)

I think that the officials have got more to be worried about like slow play.

It is interesting that no one really cared about spitting, swearing and petulance until Tiger became a spitty, sweary petulant person.

I don't get this, those that are offended by this must have better, more important things to worry about surely??

The spitting thing, granted, is dirty and I think he can be a lot more discreet when he does it. I'm sure if he did it once he had left the tee or away from the green in between shots there would be less attention drawn to it.

As for the club throwing, so what!!! I'd wager that there isn't one Pro out there who hasn't let a club go, or smashed the ground/ bag/ caddy/ tree at sometime. He will be fined for it under their players' code, why does that need to be changed just because he is the 1st Billionaire sportsman???

Swearing?? So what, get over it. Those that say it is a bad example to kids - why are you relying on a golfer to teach your kids right from wrong anyway?? Or is it just passing the buck because you can't be bothered to teach them??

This is typical of our society at the moment, marvel at someone who has the talent and drive to get to the top and when they eventually get there start picking faults with them.

If you watch any footy, and I do, then immediately after a shot on goal, the cameras always zoom in for a close up shot of a quick expetive, and a gob. Always. They know it will happen, and do it anyway. Why is Tiger any different. They know after a poor shot he is going to swear, so why show it on telly? It is as much the directors fault for showing it.

Personally, I can't see why after a terrible shot you are going to smile nicely for the cameras, give a cheery little wave to the crowd, and then skip off down the fairway without a care in the world. Not going to happen. I don't do it, why should anyone else.

I don't have a problem with it I think it shows they care and want to win

I also think baring Tiger from a competition would hurt that competition more than Tiger

They'll never be brave enough to ban their main box office draw from an event. Sadly in terms of advertising revenue and viewing figures Tiger remains the big draw which means he is treated preferentially. I do believe that if Mr 100 on the money list started being filmed regularly throwing clubs, swearing on live TV or spitting then some sort of sanctions would be taken
