Im a bit of a demon for buying golf magazines and im always flicking through my old ones...I find there's always something i may have initially missed in the first read..
But recently iv been looking through the equipment issues that come free with them..You all know the ones...All the spinky spanky knew shiney stuff and the latest and greatest fal d dals...
Anyway a few things that caught my eye but that were really getting across the same point was the issue of clubs being made lighter for increased swing speed and faster ball speeds..
This got me thinking...Why in gods name are manufacturers promising more speed for the average Joe when Mr. average Joe already swings the club too fast as it is...Surely this is counter productive..
I would argue the point that if the clubs were maybe a little heavier or shafts even that people might swing more in balance...Yes they might loose a few yards but so what if its straight...
Iv noticed lately a hugh difference in my swing... In distance accuracy and quality of the strike by just slowing down my backswing and the start of my downswing...
So why are we being fed the advertising slogans that X,Y and Z clubs will make you hit the ball further and higher by making them lighter...
Surely this is just confusing the issue for people that are just new to the game.
