At work we have my old hi fi, hooked up to the speakers it came with. It is 27 years old so not new tech. I have shown pictures of how the speakers and hi fi are linked. We use it for the radio only.

I brought my DAB radio in today to see what the reception was like, we can only get 1 FM channel on my old radio. It is great but the speakers on the radio are not designed to fill the space I need it to at work. Can I link my radio to these speakers and if so what wires would I need? I'm guessing the DAB and speakers are not compatible as they are from two different era's but I thought I would ask first of all.

Any suggestions?

Does the old stereo have any sort of aux input you could use?

It has the same red and white holes / connections as per the bottom picture.

Are you thinking putting the DAB radio through the old style radio and into the speakers that way? Some sort of piggy back (I clearly have no idea what I am talking about)?

I’m no expert but don’t line out need to go into an amp in order to drive a speaker?
I’d guess line out from DAB radio (if that’s what’s in the photo) to an aux input (or alternative) on the amp, speaker stay as they are.
You won’t harm anything by wiring the speakers directly into the line out connections but I’m guessing the volume will be really low if there is any at all.

If the upside down photo is the DAB radio that show a 'line out' connectors. As Beezerk says these connect to an amplifier and not directly to speakers.

If you are not too bothered about hi fi quality just buy a set of computer speakers with a built in amp.

Or connect it to the aux input on the existing amp.
