Just been watching it fly over Nottingham. Wifey has an app she was showing me that tells you where and when you can see it.

Amazing really to sit there and look at it on clear night. That is all 😁

Funny enough there was one following it round , shmbo hadn’t noticed it till I pointed it out.

Now she wants me to buy her a bloody telescope 🤨

There's some great scopes out there now with what is called "GoTo" controllers. Several manufacturers have their version of it. Basically, if your target is above the horizon you scroll through the controller's menu till it comes up, press enter and the scope finds it. Providing you've set the scope up correctly it will stay on target as the earth rotates. I have an adaptor that allows me to attach my Nikon DSLR. Some of the images are amazing. Below is the Orion Nebula, one of the easiest to capture. That, along with the Milky Way and the Andromada Galaxy you could do easily do first night, providing they're above the horizon. Some of the harder ones, like the Horse's Head Nebula take a little practice but it isn't hard.

Below is my little toy, a Skywatcher 150PDS with "GoTo."

Always good to watch it with the kids on Xmas Eve and tell them it's Santa on his sleigh. They always seem more keen to go to bed after that.

We used this ruse with our oldest grandson for the years he was living with us... Now he is at the Kevin stage of his life doubt he'd be so easily 'conned'... Make the most of it whilst you can...

Google Norad Santa on Christmas Eve. It shows exactly where Santa is in his run around the world. My kids loved it.

It is mazing how fast it goes across.

The best sight I saw was when one of the shuttles took off. It's flight path was virtually above us and the speed with which it went across the sky was unbelievable.

For my 30th I went to Florida and timed it for a shuttle launch. Went around Cape Canaveral a few days prior and then watched the launch from Cocoa Beach. Pretty amazing.

Yes the speed of the space station surprised me, especially viewed from 250m. To be honest the clarity you can see it did also.
