We had a nice little note attached to our comp cards today indicating that slow play will not be tolerated and informing people they should let others through as soon as they can and not waiting for an opportunity to let someone through, i.e. only letting through on a lost ball etc.

I have to say I do think this is a very positive move by my club. I myself have no issue with slow play if someone wants a nice leisurely round of golf that to me is their choice, I do however have a real issue with people not letting faster groups through. I can't see how these people do not feel pressurized to let people through and end up rushing their own game reducing their enjoyment.

Does anyone have an issue with letting faster groups through?

If they do I do find it really hard to understand what this issue is, and would love to hear their reasons.

slow play is killing the game- it's certainly killing my enjoyment of it..........beautiful day today and comp to play in, max handicap was 1st class........I waited on every shot and I mean every shot...was backed up as far as I could see........group in front we timed at 3-4 mins each to putt:angry: which didnt help:(

After 9 holes and 2hrs 15 mins of watching others play I'd had enough........there are better things to do with family/friends on a beautiful sunny day than watch primadonnas who watch the pro's take ages on every shot so they do.........then sclaff it

Something has to be done to stop certain people thinking its normal or acceptable to take 4.5hrs plus on a straightforward course on a sunny day

Sending in a letter.....if we all speak out maybe the powers that be might listen

Today for me was a 4.5 hrs round which for a three ball to me is too long. I can see why this letter has been generated apparently the club champs were running one hour late on the first tee.

My solution is to normally got out in the first five tees to avoid the slow groups, problem being some of these are now getting the early tees. I think this is likely more a problem with consideration of others when it comes to letting people through.
