Been playing a lot of golf recently and since I've had a sore back around the bottom right and middle of my back.

Been sore enough to take pain killers and had to put deep - heat on it to stop the pain.

Is this supposed to happen after playing or is it a problem with the way I am playing?

I had started getting a sore back whilst playing and at the range when i got a lesson it stopped. I was too stooped and that what was giving me a sore back , maybe the same for you ? or maybe your age

my pro changed me to a more upright stance yesterday, back and sides are aching a little today. I did hit quite a few balls then went to the course afterwards although I am 40 y/o so have an excuse ;)

change in stance will have you using muscles that were previously not being utilised. a few days will strengthen them.

As above really. As long as there's nothing fundamentally wrong with your swing. Core exercises will help strengthen your lower back muscles.

good advice - the other thing is not to use deep heat, use ice. You are trying to resolve the cause not the symptoms. For the same reason you should be using anti inflamatory pain killers like those based on ibuprofen.

ideally you should see a medic if it continues, or a professional, or better still both!

Could be any number of reasons.

Do you carry? Pull? Unbalanced carry bag can cause problem. Pulling is definitely dodgy - pushing (same trolley) is much 'better'.

Swing issues could be causing it, or merely highlighting an underlying problem. Pro and GP (or Physio/Chiropractor/Osteopath if you prefer) are the guys to check that out with (resp).

I pull my trolly on the right hand side, where its sore might be that.

Put ice on my back tonight after work and that eased it A LOT, think its just muscular pain from using new muscles?

I've got a video of my swing as well, so i'll upload that when I get a chance see if anyone can spot a problem.

I never suffered a bad back until around 18mths ago, I finished a round of golf felt OK but the next day I could hardly walk. After a few days I felt better but the dull ache and stiffness persisted for a while.

I saw a GP and then a specialist and they said nothing major was wrong. It took about a year for things to get back to normal and touch wood I dont have any problems now.

In that time I did several things, changed my bed and mattress, took more care of my posture when sitting or driving, stretch before I play, do one specific back exercise that the physio told me and try to swing more within myself.
