Solo Golf

play on my own all the time, not that I am antisocial just prefer it. Up nice and early sat am and then on the course by 7!

I play 7 holes 2 or 3 times a week myself. I'm enjoying it as I play the midweek comp on a Thursday and I enjoy the company there. The rest of the time I'm either A) working on taking things from lessons to the course and like to concentrate on that or B) I've managed to escape the kids/work/homelife of combination thereof and the tranquility is really therapeutic that i don't want it spoiled.

Most of my golf is solo golf. As others have said it gives you a chance to play a few extra shots. For me this usually means I'll spend about 5/10 mins per green hitting different chips.

I like some solo golf, although as has been said I used to hit 2or3 balls and it was a waste of time.

Now I play 1 ball and play the course at match play. Take a shot at SI 1-5 and the course gets 18 pars. Much better and gives you a decent challenge.

If I feel the need I will drop a ball on the 150 or 100 yard marker and hit a specific shot to try and iron out yardages.

Weighing up whether I want to do 9 holes after work this week, and wanted to see what everyone's thought were on a solo round?

Do you often go around alone? I've always been a team sports man, and i like to play golf with others, but my friends don't quite have the same commitment as me to improve.....

Thinking of maybe going round 9-holer this week alone, but wanted to see what everyone's general consensus was.

Pretty much every round I play is Solo. I have a friend that I play with but he only goes out once a month. So the rest of the time I'm by myself.

Although twice I have gone out and have joined up with a group behind or in front of me and formed a four ball. Just joined a club though so will need to start joining their roll ups so I can get people to sign my cards for me. But nothing wrong with going it alone.

One of the nice things about golf is that it is a game you can play by yourself if you want to, or can't find a playing partner. Although most of my golf is in a group of some sort, I do occasionally play 9 holes by myself in the evening just to practice, often playing with two balls and repeating any shots I don't like. :)

I went out solo the other night for the first time, weird at first, but soon realised that it was lovely to have no pressure on whatsoever

Last year I played less and less solo golf. By about 6.30 in the evening the course filled up with people playing summer foursomes or summer singles knockout matches so a relaxing 9 holes became too slow

Often head to the club in the evening and if nobody about go out on my own.

Usually pretty aimlessly to be fair, quite like the idea if playing matchplay against the course, will give that a go.

Prefer to pair up with others but also enjoy some solo golf

I love a weekend early solo run. 6:30 tee time and the only one on the course except the wildlife. I can get round at my own pace and back home by 10:30 for some quality family time. Best of both worlds.

Never even thought of doing that, I play frequently solo particularly when I'm away with work.

I prefer to play on my own, the quiet solitude of either early morning or late evening is great. Play at my pace and not trying to keep up with gazelles in front, work on visualisation of shots and mental preparation and execute the shot at hand.
Can't beat it.
