Weighing up whether I want to do 9 holes after work this week, and wanted to see what everyone's thought were on a solo round?

Do you often go around alone? I've always been a team sports man, and i like to play golf with others, but my friends don't quite have the same commitment as me to improve.....

Thinking of maybe going round 9-holer this week alone, but wanted to see what everyone's general consensus was.

All of my after work golf is solo. Course is empty most of the time and it means I can do what I want in regards to trying a shot again in a different way or playing 2 balls etc without feeling like I'm holding up a PP.

I've been known to go round on my own in the past. Nothing wrong with it especially if your itching to play and other are busy. You may end up joining in with another person or group anyway

Often play 9 holes after work in the summer for a bit of practice. Not one for anything more than that unless the course is pretty empty.

I think golf with someone else is more fun and social. However, no golf at all is not fun so I go out every so often on my own for a quick 9 holes after work. I wouldn't play 18 on my own but a stress relieving 9 holes midweek can be pleasant. Also a decent option if you want to work on a particular shot or club with no one else with you to raise eyebrows if it doesn't quite work at first.

I do 9 or 12 on my own sometimes. Using GameGolf has seemed to give me more enthusiasm to do this if my mates can't make it.

Love it. Get to play numerous shots.

On a quiet sat evening I can stretch 6 holes over two hours. Hitting far more useful shots than I would at the range.

Three drives, few approaches. Chip from all parts of the green.

Let people through when they come behind you.

At times on our third tee..par 5. I will hit every ball in my bag with the driver if I find a groove and no one is there.

I used to play a fair bit in the evenings on my own, but always found i didn't concentrate and would end up hitting 2 or 3 balls.

Much prefer the competition of playing against someone else, so not played solo for a while

I often go to the course on my own, sometimes I join up with someone there, sometimes not, Joining with someone you don't know can be a risk and a bit of a lottery. One round I ended up playing with 2 pros on a more recent one I played with a guy that was so slow and never shut up all the way round.

I can see the point of solo....getting out for practice, working on shots etc.

but I have never done the solo thing. now the brighter nights are here, I may just go for a couple.

I love it. Just chilling with your own thoughts for a couple of hours. Try whatever shots you want, hit a few chips and pitches, etc.

It seems that by saying I was going for a solo round, all of a sudden one of my pals wants to come now!!

My first solo round will happen soon though.

Nothing better that a sunlight warm evening with a pencil bag and the course to yourself. No pressure, no card in hand, just having fun trying all the things you daren't try when it matters. Stay out as long or a short as you like. One of the tangible benefits of being a club member rather than a nomad. I did play a few holes once after teaming up with one of our young guns who only had a 7 iron with him. That's a bit scary as he monsters it up almost alongside your puny drive :o !

I love solo golf, mainly because I am unsociable but I love being out there by myself and being able to hit numerous shots on holes.
I am probably going solo early on Saturday somewhere.

Every chance i get, I'll go out. Did so yesterday afternoon following a dentist appointment.

It was millionaires golf for first 5 holes but then i caught up a senior 5 ball...so skipped back across to the 3rd tee, played two balls and generally chilled. Clubs live in the car now its summer, just need to remember to put a golf top in, with them.

Can't beat it.

Unless you're talking 6am early, I can't see how that would work? Surely that's the busiest time for most GCs, can't see how a single would fit in (or if the course would like a whole tee time for one person)

I often play solo. Although i try and go round when a course is quiet. The solitude is nice.

It also means i get to play some courses which my dad, who is my regular pp, isnt very keen on!

I play solely solo at the moment! Find it relaxing to take a chunk out of a day to just focus on one thing. Also being completely new to the game it takes a while to find connections etc, especially without a club membership. I'm pretty sure that will change once these exams are over and I have a 2 month summer with pretty much nothing else to focus on but golf though ;)

it will be 6am early! I am not a great sleeper so am often awake at 4.30/5am so ideal on a weekend when I want to play golf
