I think golf societies are great, and enable players to visit different clubs, have a bit of a comp' and a great day out and at a good price.

So why is it that everytime a society has left our club, we end up repairing pitch marks in every green, and replacing divots on every fairway.

Society players are usually members of golf clubs, and wouldn't do it at their own place would they (Mainly)

Anyone else have a gripe about this?

If they aren't repairing pitch marks at your place you can bet your bottom dollar they don't do it at their home club either.

A lot depends on the type of course and society. I have played as a guest with a society at the Berkshires and Swinley Forest, both of those days out cost £125 so they are only going to attract proper golfers ie club members. There are lots of societies that are basically just bunches of lads who dabble in golf, generally playing pay and play or proprietary courses who don't really have a clue about etiquette. These are the types that don't leave the course as they found it.
