Its getting very close - so who would you pick ? Would you do an Azinger and pick some homies to please the crowd Eg Rhys Davies ? Any really really wild cards in there ? Or do you just pick safe options like Casey and Donald etc ? Would you put an olive branch out to Sergio to see if the Ryder Cup could reignite his passion for the game ?

Wouldn't pick Sergio if he was the last choice left. Not a fan of hometown picks to please the fans especially a young and relatively inexperienced player like Davies. The pressure and expectation will be way too much. With a few rookies in the side I'd be looking for some experience and think Harrington is a definite. Coming into form and one of the gutsiest match players out there. Remember it isn't stroke play so he can still have the odd bad hole.

Other than that, I think Rose would be solid and a great partner for Poulter, The last pick will be tricky with so many contenders and I think that is too close to call.

Casey, Rose and Harrington.

Of course as a man of 'cough' honour, he should pick Molinari, who is the one who has gone out of his way to play the toureys Monty asked potential candidates to play.

If he doesn't pick him, what was the point in saying potential team members have to play Celtic and Gleneagles?

I think we've got a couple of twists and turns to go in the rankings yet. With Dyson and Hanson starting well it could yet push out Jimenez and Casey.

Interesting couple of weeks left

Currently Paul Casey is the last automatic pick according to sky sports webpage.
So I think he will pick E Molinari, Harrington and Rose.

I wouldn't pick Garcia, he's shown for a while now that his mind isn't on the job in hand and such a big occasion will make him worse I think.

Would love to see him back to his best but until he has a break and refocuses I can't see him getting anywhere near.

It'll not be long before we know....

I'd say he'll pick Donald, Harrington & Rose

He's got to take his strongest most experienced team into this match. The US team is looking a lot stronger now than it did a month ago. We don't want another defeat because their team was more up for it than ours, just like the last time.

Stick Danny Willett in. Noone can doubt his talent, and I like the guy.

TBH I don't think it matters too much.

Any of out top 15 guys are perfectly capable of stuffing the Yankee turkeys, it's down to making sure they perform on the day.

That's where Faldo went wrong.

It's how I'll judge Monty.

And whilst I don't particularly like the bloke's persona, I think he's got the balls to do it.

:p

It doesnt matter who he picks . . .I think we'll lose.

Overall, there will be no difference tee to green between the two sides, but (like all ryder cups) it will be won and lost on the greens. Apart from Kaymer, Harrington and possibly Poulter, this European team are not as good on or around the greens than the yanks...
