Us Scots seem to be letting the side down in the playing department in the Ryder Cup, this is the second RC in a row we haven't had anybody playing 1999 was the last time we had some one other than Monty.

Future not looking bright either with only 2 guys in the top 70 on the tour with stephen Gallacher at 21 and Ritchie Ramsay at 59.

Comparing this to our friends down the road Who have things looking really good with Casey,Westwood,Poulter, Donald, fisher and more on the way with Wilson,Khan Horsey Willet, Wood and last weeks winner of course John Parry

Look at both Irelands Harrington Lawrie McGraine lowry and the Northern boys have McDowell, McIlroy,Maybin and Hoey.

you can always rely on Spain produces one or two Sweden always has one and Kaymer will be there for a while.

Its strange because I read the GM with Manassero on cover and it mentioned only 1 in 700 people play golf in Italy compared to 1 in 60 in England and 1 in 15 in Scotland.

And the next Ryder Cup will probaly have 3 Italians with the Molinari's and young Manassero.

Why can't we produce any top players?

As the population of England is almost 50 million and Scotland is only 5 million, then according to GM's stastistics there are almost three times more golfers in England than Scotland.
The main reason why Scotland don't produce good sportsmen is a lack of funding and forward planning. :(

Ye I did think of him but he left Scotland ten years ago and he doesn't have ambition to join the European tour so would always be relying on a wild card. Shame really good player had a great season this year

Nonsense we love to make excuses blame funding and facilities thats not true where do you get your facts the SGU has plenty of funds as does most county unions.

We have some of the best courses in the world also there are plenty of courses at all sorts of levels of quality and price funding isn't the issue.

The SGU have plenty funds but what do they do with it?

They hardly have the same quality as the EGU when it comes to grass roots and facilites etc.

All the money goes to the guys at the top of the amatuer game not grass roots development and they use the extortionate levy very poorly.
