So who broke the forum layout?

Re: everything squashed up?

I can't believe there are 7 pages of people stating the obvious same thing! Yes it's a pain in the arse, can't read pms and pictures are practically unviewable but give people a chance!

At the end of the day this forum is run free of charge with great comps etc. they ate not going to leave it as it is are they with no pms etc! But yes we must expect advertising.

Let's just all calm down and let GM's tech guys get it sorted.

Give GM a chance! This could be one little accident, personally I am dealing with this just fine until it gets sorted as its the people that make this place, not the layout.

This is a golf forum, not life and death.

Gents, first things first, like most guys, the web dev guys probably dont work 24/7. There is a problem, we can all see it, especially in the PM pages. Give the guys a chance tomorrow and it should all be back to business as usual. All this talk of jumping ship is a little premature in my opinion.

Voices of reason at last , eaten bread is soon forgotten & all that , after all GM & the lads there do for us all on the forum , all hell breaks loose , we can contact the Top man & all the staff at the mag with a problem at any time , they get back to us with an answer , GM respect their forumers opinions so will listen & try sort thing so we are all happy , its a free forum so probably needs sponsorship to pay its way , it a blip on the set up , itl be fixed with our opinions taken on board ,, so chill guys ..
Remember Remember & dont be so short tempered & ungrateful ,

Re: everything squashed up?

I'm not one for flouncing off in a huff. However it has changed for the worse, it is less easy to use, and maybe a bit of consultation would have been nice.

I reckon we could all name a couple of forums that have struggled after changing format to accommodate more prominent advertising.

The magazine does benefit from a strong vibrant forum, and it would be a shame if any changes affected that.

And remember also, they don't provide this Forum out of the goodness of their heart.

It's a business, to sell and get subscribers for the magazine. GM get paid for advertising products for us to buy.

It is a two way thing, don't forget that.

Oh, and I don't like the set up either!

Re: everything squashed up?

Another forum that i post on had a big rejig of their layout a few years back and there was a lot of whining, but they had it tweaked and sorted within a few days.
Give it time

Indeed. How dare they don't consult us on how they want to run their forum. After all we are PAYING for this service...oh wait...

Ok...so maybe it's FREE but it's not like there's anything special about the forum like exclusive competitions and opportunities for free gear and demo days that aren't available to joe public...oh hang on!

;)

I don't agree with the idea that the forum is 'free' - would it still exist if there was no magazine?

cheeky!! :D as I said the magazine benefits from the forum, They got to use my pic for a free putter last year. When I say free, I'm sure access to my image rights is worth that 10x over. Don't confuse consultation for permission, just nice to be involved in any change.

Anyway you can't have a pop @ GM. You're a company man, you big sell out :D:ears:

Your opinion.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion too!

Re: everything squashed up?

Craw were not entitled to our opinions, don't be so silly. Its FREE Don't you know.

I reckon we should do away with the adverts and get Scott Gourley to stump up the cash. He must owe GM 1000's the amount of mentions he's had recently :D

Dude your not aloud to mention his name. I think we need to change his name to, eh god. lol.

I would rather pay to use this forum, like i do with the other forums i am also on.

You don't get this problem on them

I also think this forum is over moderated. They are not consistent enough. :D

Re: everything squashed up?

PM should not be fixed and working now without the bands running across the text boxes.

If its not showing on your machine hit refresh

we are still looking at solutions for the main forum layout.

That'll be next week now but please be assured we're treating it as top priority

Not to worry. It's looking great on my 32" IPS display :)

Shame about the laptop downstairs.

Re: everything squashed up?

Yip, it's awful. But I work in IT and these things happen; glad to hear it's been recognised and a solution is being worked on.

Clicking to read is fixed but replies more that a sentence is still broken and gets hidden behind the odyssey commercial. I'm actually getting annoyed by odyssey now.
