For those that didnt stay up to see the end of the US open, this maniac stepped onto the 18th green during the speeches and started cawing like a parrot. I'll have a pint of what he had, absolutely bonkers haha.

To be honest though, the entire weeks golf was ruined by idiots calling out idiotic chants after each and every shot, the PGA/USGA needs to sort that out and this incident might help reinforce it.

Agreed but realistically speaking they are making huge $$ from these types of nut jobs to spectate. So it is likely to become standard practice at such events. I don't think it will be too long before we see streakers and all at golf events. I bet some idiot in the future will try to outdo what this guy did and it will just escalate.

I wasn't able to watch it thanks to working but got to listen to the last 2 hours or so on Radio 5. The commentators weren't impressed with the shouts either. They even commented in a tired sarcastic tone about "the lastest shout" when a shot was hit. Idiots the lot of them. The occassional shout can be funny if the timing it correct such as the original "MASHED POTATOE" but it's happening with every shot. Even drives on par 5's are being met with "Get in the hole" and if someone shouts "WHOOO" beside me at the Irish Open for anything other than a fantasic putt, I'll be tempted to shove my size 9 up them and leave it there until they learn to shut up.

Have you seen the three "Stella Artois", there is a lot of talk on there about a beer called "Tactical Nuclear Penguin".... I think he must have sniffed some of that. Fool.

Must agree though, this shouting is getting ridiculous.

I think that every commentator is getting sick to the hind teeth of it all. If you want to shout like an idiot, go to the football... Sorry, "Soccer". Rant over.

The video didn't take long to hit youtube!

What's Steve Carrell doing there though  ;)

The USGA needs to get this sorted. Not sure whether the sync was slightly out on the audio, but it seemed on more than one occasion that these idiots were actually shouting on some players downswings.
Furyk and McDowel were clearly rattled by these clowns.
Surely other spectators could point out the idiots to security, and have them removed and banned for life.
I have to be honest and say, that if i had the displeasure of standing next to somebody like this,i'd end up bending my brolley across the top of there skull.

Some might see this as funny because it was just a harmless prank , more than likely a bet , but where were the security ? what if this guy was a nutter , how did he get this close without been stopped ? wasnt watching last night but usualy you see the state police & the over zelous stewards very prominently struting around chest out looking for someone to stop ..

I have worked at gigs like this (but not as massive) & we got our instructions & no clown like that would get near the presentation party , we actualy ended up milling two guys from the daily mirror out of it at the Budwiser Irish Derby one year..it was the same year the national was ruined in England,

Sorry they wer in the hospitality , & tried to get across the track as the race was on they were rubgy tackled to the ground , & gently escorted to the exits , they seemingly forgot their passes that would have allowed them access

Maybe i should explain it a bit better ,seemingly they left the hospitality by the rear ,so did not use the official access area for press or guests , they were stopped by security as you are not allowed onto the track when any race starts , the pushed past security & made a dash for the finish line to get the photos, they were stopped ,

Something needs to be done about it a high level before one of these clowns does something which decides the result of a tournament. I was wondering last night when one of the players would point out that these idiots are a joke and have no place in golf, but then realised that the players can't afford to do that and upset their own frame of mind or risk having the gallery turn on them. I wonder if the PGA could get a bunch of the popular guys together to prepare an ad campaign against it. Granted that the rooster guy was fairly harmless and probably carrying out a dare, but the people who shout after every shot clearly have no genuine interest in golf and are only there to hear their own voice or get on tv.

It is a symptom of society's glorification of idiots but I don't think it would be too hard to make these people realise they aren't welcome. Unfortunately as someone else said it would equal a loss in revenue which the PGA, suppliers etc wouldn't be willing to wear.

Did anyone else notice that one of the main culprits on the first tee was holding a pint and being gently restrained by his mate because he was obviously completely boozed. I don't understand why anyone would go to a golf tournament to get drunk - other than obviously to be seen/heard.

I really enjoy watching the US tour but this behaviour is starting to turn it into a painful experience at times.

The shouting was utterly pathetic. Grown men shouting mashed potatoe and such like. I have no idea why the players don't turn round after and embarrass them. If all the players did that and the corwd pointed them out it would soon stop.
Imagine G Mac turing round and saying right who just shouted that , on TV and the camera's scan the crowd. I bet it would soon stop.
And when identified they should chuck the morons out. I also dont' think the commentators are right. They seem to think it's drunk people. Nope. It's just pathetic attention seeking losers...

This was worse though

I dont suppose theres anyway to zoom in on that video? I was about 50 yards down the right side wearing a white top where the crossing area was (thus people including me were getting pushed out towards the fairway.

Also, what is 'light the candle' which I seem to hear these days? Absolute b8ll8cks IMO!

It seemed like there was a very distinct voice that was in the stand directly behind the first tee, as I heard it after pretty much every opening tee shot that I saw.

It must be the easiest and most noticeable location for the organisers to pinpoint the culprit. If they weren't going to bother with him they'll never bother with any of them.

But then some clown wearing our flag on his head trumps them all at the end and leaves us with no credibility to moan about the shouters being idiots.

Region - I'm pretty sure that it was the clown standing on the ground on the right of the grandstand (facing back from green to tee) holding a pint and being restrained by his mate - a few times when the cameras zoomed in on the player who had just hit the same guy was there swaying and looking very impressed with himself.

While I'm on it, the US PGA actually encourages these idiots by having 'party holes' e.g. at the FBR Open.
