As some of you are aware, I got some MX300s earlier this year. Now there's nothing wrong with them, in fact they're very good. But last Friday I hardly used them.

Drove with whichever wood I felt comfortable with, bearing in mind distence to hazards etc and then used a wedge to get to the green. Hardly used hundreds of pounds worth of irons!

Admitedly the course I was playing lends itself to this approach or two long ish irons to get to the green. But I was a bit disappointed not to use the new bats much. Oh score, fwiw, 37.

hapless....have you been playing at mine? :)

We only have long and short holes so it's wedge and/or fairway/rescue almost all the time. I'd enjoy hitting the occasional 6 iron or even (dare to wish) a 7 iron!!

I know how you feel. My irons see very little action.

Sounds like my game also......
Im fairly long off the tee....Dont use a driver only a 3 wood and on par 4's im usually a wedge into the greens.....( I dont always hit them though mind.... :D :D)

Par 5's if im hitting the ball solid are probably 3 wood and either another 3 wood or maybe 2 wedges if im actually using a bit of grey matter. :D
