So, Is Anyone Stuck?

SPOFF'S PARENTS TRAVEL UPDATE

Because I know you're all so interested...

My folks have just been put on the first of four coaches and been sent home. My parents sat together on a coach for the best part of 72 hours...

My thoughts are with the other passengers!!!

My Brother and his wife are stuck in Egypt on honeymoon. This is now their 3rd extra day and they are now in same Hotel but on B & B basis as opposed to a Fully Inclusive.

The main ferry from Orkney to mainland Scotland is being sent to Norway this evening to pick up stranded people and take them to Aberdeen. Seems a bit odd as they cancelled this mornings 90 minute crossing due to bad weather. Surely they'll encounter worse on the way to Norway.

Still stuck in kenya, just got my boarding pass for a Monday flight home . Have to say Virgin Atlantic have been great, first couple of days they put us in a hotel, bed and breakfast. But then told us we would be full board with free soft drink with meals , 15 mins free internet and free use of a swimming pool in a health centre opposite, as their pool is undergoing maintainance. So we have effectively had 19 days for the price of 10 B.O.G.O.F.
Virgin and the hotel management have gone out of their way to make us as comfortable as they can, getting extra sun loungers, parasols etc.
As far as i am aware insurance does not cover this event (i may be wrong) as it is "act of god" and we are getting this service under Virgins duty of care to it's customers, but you should hear the people here saying they are going to get all they can out of this situation! Come on there are people that have spent 6 days on a campbed in the airport, we have been so comfortable, the only time we had any stress was the period that the airports were closed and no information was available.

My boss is still in America, she's with Virgin and says they have been terrible. Only time she gets info is when she phones home!!!

My parents made hit home late on Thursday. Three days on a coach. Yuk!

My regular golf partner is still in Lanzarote. I think he flew with EasyJet and might not get another flight until well into next week!
