So Close , Yet So Far

Normal Friday 3 ball yesterday , Imurg, CVG & yours truly. weather was a bit windy, the odd spot of drizzle, but luckily the forecasters got the details wrong.

One of my aims for this year is to slow everything down, not to try and hit the ball too hard, and this seems to be paying results

38 points yesterday (Imurg 29 points)--Im not gloating much 5 Greens in regulation. 35 putts (3 x3putts)
20 points out 18 back. 8 x 3 pointers. 91 gross, which is my best winter score ever. included 5 x 1 pointers, so left a lot out there still. Even took a driver off the deck, much to Imurgs claims that I cant do that coz im a 23 handicapper ( it was sticking well up on a tufft, and I thought my 5 wood would go under it, worked too

So why am I slightly miffed? because I was so near my first ever Blob free Round, but it crept in on the 17th, rats, blast, AARRRGGGHHH etc. This is one of my targets I have set myself for this year.

Oh well there is always next week

Also the saga of the massive 2's pot continues, we each put £1 in per game, and next week we are playing for £30 . Not been won for 9 weeks , we have 6 par 3's on the course . so after 162 attempts. not one of us has scored a 2 ( although we all had close calls yesterday) Pathetic isnt it

Overall im very pleased, need to repeat it ,but bears well for the rest of the season

Even after a beer each its worth winning, so I guess its becomming something that you think about when you step on the tee of a par 3.

Its obviously comming together so the next goal is to score on each hole. The rest will take care of itself.

38 points is great as not the easiest conditions for golf (we got rained on for every minute of 18 holes)!

Plus - get that putting stat to nearer 30 for the round and you're in the 40's :thup:

Focus on the positives and that blob-free round is a certainty !

Well done, 38pts is good golf. Do you keep a 'private' h/cap going for your games? eg you play off a shot less next time? (reduces the shock when you do finally get cut)

Thanks guys, certainly feel that its about time I made inroads into that handicap, especially as I went backwards last season.
