Bought a second hand SLDR driver from one of the members on here last week. Had a bash up the range and all seemed good, however first time out on course today I really struggled. Virtually every shot with it felt like it came off the bottom of the face and the ball struggled to get any height at all. We were off our crappy winter mats so I was having to use pink castle tees (normal wooden tees won't stay up the mats are so bad), does anyone else use these or something a bit longer?

Had the same problem last week! Had a play with one of the demo's at my club! Hit the ball straightish but struggled with height, I presumed it was the loft might need adjusting up (set at 12 while my current calloway is 10.5)

i was was using pink tees just like saint hacker was too !

Tell you what I did notice was when I changed the shaft from stiff to regular and it was like I was waving something with bamboo cane!

Suprised how dramatic the firmness went, way to lose but it was a standard taylormade shaft. Might give it another whirl with the stiff flex again to see how it is using the tips in this thread!

The SLDR is the first driver Ive ever had to tee right up. All the other drivers ive had i teed the ball low, that didn't work with the SLDR..

Tee it high and let it fly;)

Cheers guys, I will grab some longer tees next time I'm out. Its weird, the pinks were fine for my RBZ. Where is the sweet spot on the SLDR face? I'm guessing nearer the top of the face, which would explain why it feels dead and the ball comes out low with the same height tee.

Went out with the nipper for a few holes this afternoon, so I popped in the pro shop and bought a pack of the biggest tees he had. What a difference, its like a different club. I measured a couple with my gps and they ended up between 260 and 270 yds, well happy with that considering its february. Only downside is you can't help but try to really belt it occasionally, with the usual result, albeit now a bit further into the cabbage!

I thought it was pretty standard since deep faced drivers. About 3/4 or more of the ball above the top of the driver.

Why would you not do this unless you have an incorrect negative aoa and have to.

Am I the only one having to tee it lower??!!! Literally, to get the sweet spot, I am teeing it up about 3-4cm maximum, range tees are too high!! Probably more me than the club I think!!!

Lower than what?

3-4cm covers a pink tee surely ( although that's a wide range you quote!)

Sorry, lower than i used to with other drivers. I have had a look and now lets say 1cm lower then a pink tee!

I'll look at the detail later, but off the top of my head I would say it's impossible to have anything other than a -ve angle of attack and still strike the ball below the sweet spot with that club and tee height (and that's even bouncing the club head off the ground before getting to the ball!)

OK.. If I knew what you were on about I would be saying cheers (i think!)

When you look at the detail, can you explain it as if you were talking to an idiot?? ;)

At first I used the pink castle tees (think they are 2/38) but I found I was hitting near the top of the face so I moved up to the 2/34 tees and found I hit it better and more from the Middle. I think for me it's phycological seeing the ball tee up higher and making it easier to hit.
