I am looking for some help, with a GPS Watch purchase I am looking to make.

For personal reasons the ability to receive an notification discreetly whilst playing golf makes the Skycaddie Linx and Garmin S4 (S6 is just too pricy!) the two watches I'm considering.

The Skycaddie is cheaper and seems to have the same features as the S4 but I'm a bit confused whether I need an annual membership with the Skycaddie to get all the features that will match the S4.

Does anyone use the Skycaddie or the S4 to be able to advise if this is the case with the Linx and how they have found it

Thanks

I believe Fish works for Skycaddie, he might be able to help😃

Watches do not require membership in general for all the basic features, however, the Linx has the IntelliGreen®, HoleVue™ & True-Ground® Fairway Targets available and to access those a membership would be required.

I received my Linx yesterday and 1st impressions are I like to look of it and you don't even know its on your wrist so all good.

However I had a very frustrating 2 hours trying to set the watch and sync my membership, the Blue tooth Syn would not work and the USB Cable Sync would not work, in the end I called Skycaddie and they logged onto my Mac and down loaded an additional driver, made some changes, downloaded a later version of the software and the sync now works via the USB Cable. However the Bluetooth does not work because the App is stil not working correctly since the latest update. However the web site says an update has been sent to Apple for approval and should be release in the next week of so, which is disappointing to me because I want a unit with Notifications because I am on Call a lot.

Any 1st impression are good, if a little frustrated, so I'm trashing the unit with out waiting the for the updates, but if you are looking at a Skycaddie Linx at the moment be aware there are a few issues or just wait a few weeks.

I am playing Friday Sat and Sunday so I will update my review on how accurate it is with the IntelliGreen®, HoleVue™ & True-Ground® loaded, I am not sure whether I can add the additional Hazards at the moment because the manual is sparse on detail

This is a temporary problem totally out of SkyCaddies control, if Apple suddenly decide to upgrade or produce another App, they just go ahead and do it, if you were on an Android (for example) you wouldn't be having this issue, if Android were upgrading or changing their App then it would be in reverse and you would be OK with your Apple but Android users wouldn't be! They do turn these things around quickly but they are all a law unto themselves unfortunately.

Doh should of checked the post, meant to say I'm NOT trashing the unit and 1st impresessions are good and I'm looking forward to testing over the weekend was just very frustrating that it could not be set without the patch
