Was thinking of treating myself to the Skycaddie GSX but have been told they will not be conforming? Any one confirm this before I lash out £300+. Checked the Rule change on the R&A but still not sure...... SOLID
Hi forerightagain the SGX is 100% legal. I was at the launch for the product week before last and SkyCaddie were at pains to stress this fact. I think the confusion has come over the possible introduction of the smart tags system - which wont be operational till summer at the earliest and then only if you have the tags inserted into your clubs
We were the first UK mag to get a test unit and as an SG5 user for the last year I have to say this is a massive step up in terms of ergonomics, aesthetics and features. Granted it's not cheap but IMHO this product takes DMDs to the next level
If the courses are preloaded can you get course updates? IS the information as good as that of individual downloads. I have a Golflogix with membership which has just expired and i have been toying with the idea of a SG5 on holiday later this year. I could stretch to an SGX if its worth it.
the 30,000 preloaded courses are updated as with any other course on the SC database (ie whenever the course tells them there have been changes and SkyCaddier send a course mapper to redo the course)
You will then get the updates whenever you sync the unit
Personally I think the relatively modest extra cost of an SGX compared to an SG5 makes it very attractive option considering all the extra features on the SGX
