I think a while back somebody mentioned skycaddie brought out an expansion pack extra features for the 2.5. Just seen it on the website for £13 anybody purchased it and is it useful ?

What does it do?

It's a little light on information on the site, but I found this at the bottom of the plans page.

20 course storage capacity
Digital scorecard
My par scoring
Auto depth of green
Auto shot distance display
Digital clock..........already have this on mine.

Not sure if it's a one off payment, or an increase in subscription cost.

not very good at marketing are they. I would think they'd have emailed all those who are signed up.

20 course capacity - don't see the need
digital scorecard - possibly
par scoring - well only if you use the scorecard
auto depth of green, surely that's what we already have?
auto shot distance, not sure how that one will be different from mark ball.
digital clock - I take my watch off when playing, why would I want this?

I think I want more info.

Yeah, I got this a month or so back. Pretty much agree with the above.

The auto-depth is based on the current angle you are coming in from. And just gives you a single number on screen. i.e. How deep the green is in yards. I assume it just takes distance from front from distance from back. Useful, sometimes.

The auto-distance is basically a counter on the screen. You mark your ball as normal and as you walk the current distance from the marker is displayed instead of when you press mark again.

Might be worth it if you want to use the scorecard. Only bit I really use is the auto-shot distance.

Yeah, bit of a waste.

I don't use the scorecard. Most of the time I use a seperate IPhone app that tracks other stats too.

I tried the scorecard for a few rounds, and it's ok. Very basic, as you'd expect, but ok.

Do any of these gizzmos recommend a club to play for the shot. For example, you enter your club distances when you set the thing up and when you play it recommends a club? I do like the idea of a gps based caddie, just not sure if I am ready for it yet or if I was which one to buy. I would like to see an application for my iPhone.

Not sure I know any that do and to be fair not sure it's that practical as it would only offer distance based on a yardage per club entered by the user. It wouldn't take into account elevation and weather conditions or the lie.

Personally I'm happy to know the distance left to the green and then make my own assumptions from there
