On a similar topic to Car Insurance, phoned up sky to cancel my package as freeview is in my area now and low and behold was offered the full montezuma for £25. Sports, Movies, the lot which I'd been paying near on £50 for. The offer is for 6 months but shows what you can do with a phone call.

Sky is crap!!!

Just had a right old downpour here and lost my tv picture completely due to rain disrupting the satellite signal.

Strongly considering going back to cable. May try your tack and ring up, see if I get it cheap for half a year!

I've had a stunner with sky!!
About 14 months ago I had a cracking phone deal with sky. They were offering me free line rental for 12 months... Happy days. So all is going well then we decide to move house after 8 months of the deal. We contacted sky and no problems we arranged everything to be transferred over to the new address. When we tried to get the phone set up at the new house they had decided to cancel my whole phone package out of the blue.
So naturally I went ballistic at them as they had no right to do it. They couldn't tell me who exactly had cancelled it and when. All the said was on the system your sky talk package was cancelled.
To top it off they wouldn't match the offer I was previously on.
'cancellations department please!'..... After 20 minutes of threatening to contact trading standards for their blatant breach of contract I managed to get a new deal of half price line rental for the next 12 months. Not exactly what I was looking for but I'd be better off in the end.

Oh and don't get me started on the "you need to contact BT to get a phone line created at the exchange and you have to foot the bill".

(this is not the case if anyone else has been told this)

The funny thing is I love sky products just not their business sense!

Can't see us ever getting Sky.
We have to have cable to get a decent broadband speed - phone wires around here are made of cheese - so we use Virgin's content.Could get Sky through it but its prohibitively expensive - an extra £20 or £30 a month on top of the normal costs.
