Skin tight shirts

it may a more common problem among the more hirsute of us. Though I have two or three of these cold layers I find them uncomfortable on my forearms and more often push them back - kind of defeats the object though.
That said I also can't stand jumpers or jerseys even if Pringle!

I dont feel cold on my body very much, I can get away with a golf shirt and light jumper normally, even when others look blue.lol, I concentrate on keeping feet warm and hands warm, very important.

I have been wearing a Helly Hansen dry top for golf for about a year now, its pretty good and wicks the sweat off, not great on the warmth front so thinking of getting the Under Armour ColdGear Metal one but not 100% yet, did think of the Galvin green but then again I think its more for wicking away sweat rather than heating ones body.

Ive got one by Helly Hanson.

Not much good for warmth as I think they're mainly designed to wick away moisture from the skin and then it's up to the thermal layer to provide insulation.

There are some hybrid garments (Including HH)out there which offer the same wicking but with a built in thermal component.

The advantage is that it's one less layer to carry but the disadvantage is that if the sun comes out or you warm up after a few holes you're stuck with it.

Wicking works best when there's a sufficient temperature differential between body and air. If it's mild i.e. above about 9 degrees then with a hybrid garment there's more chance your going to overload the wicking properties and get sweaty.

My experiences with the HH is that it should not be washed at anything above 40*C wash and preferably on a cold cycle. Don't use fabric conditioner as it diminishes the wicking properties.Don't tumble dry.

They dry alomost straight away anyway and weigh nothing.

Agree they are quite 'slippy' and feel a bit odd next to the skin but they do work well and seem to be fairly robust.

They certainly don't act as a some sort of girdle for us fat gits( 6ft2 and 16 stone) and if anything make the man blobs look worse so it's on with the generously sized polo a.s.a.p

I think i'll be adding the long johns to the top this year.

Thick or thin I consider this to be a staple part of my kit now in all but the warmest of weather.

This is a golf forum not the W.I.
Now I know how to wash a top, at what temp and not to iron.

What conditioner do i use? And is it plain flour or self raising in pancakes? LMAO

HID has been trying to find some that size for years and I'm not sure why. They would definitely (just) be a little loose on me

I bought some motorbike "undershirts" last year from Lidl or Aldi, can't remember which. They were about a fiver each, skin tight with a short zipper up top which can convert it to a turtle neck if required. One of these under a jumper is great, nice soft fleecy lining, keeps the chill out.
Keep an eye out for them doing the same deal this winter and you've nabbed yourself a bargain. And whilst they don't have "pringle" plastered over the tit, they don't have Aldi or Lidl either

Have had an old Adidas one for a while which I liked. Bought a new Adidas one yesterday, even better, the new one is thicker. Takes a little getting used to as really tight, and maybe don't have the body any more to support it, but very good. 6' 2" and 13 stone, the L size fits like, well, a johnny as mentioned above

I must be honest and say that for most stuff I get large as I hate stuff becoming untucked as I play/walk so prefer a bit of length in the body. I tried the UA base layer in large and it was more than a little snug so actually went with XL. They are still perfectly skin tight on me and keep me warm but have the extra length which means it doesn't ride up under the other layers.
