Hi got the golf bug big time but do my clubs suit my height??
I’m 5’3 and my clubs which were my brothers many moons ago are HOWSON tour 525 irons.
He’s about 5’6-5’7 and he said they were ok for him but I’m struggling to swing them.
Thank you

It’s not the clubs as such.
It’s more the lies as the swinger gets shorter the heel of a standard club will be more on the ground and toe in the air.
So you need flatter lies and possibly shorter shafts.
standard clubs will close the face at impact , so missing to the left ( right handed golfer.).
Go to your nearest American golf and have a free fitting, you can decide from there what your options are.
Your irons might be able to be adjusted but not sure about Howson clubs

Brilliant thank you for your reply.
I’ve whipped the grips off my howson and seems to allow cutting room.
But I’m off to American golf tomorrow to get measurements of what club that would suit me.
Spoke to a couple of local clubs and they said from 1/2”-1 1/2 from my size but all depends on the measurement of my wrist to floor.
If that makes sense.

Make sure they check you for the lie of the club head.
This makes sure the sole of the club is flat on the floor. (Irons)
Just cutting a shaft down from the grip end can make it stiffer , also the size of the shaft end will be smaller so smaller grips may be needed.
A decent fitter will explain this.
Try the ping demos , Ping use a colour code system to fit your stature once you know this it’s easy to select clubs
Your wrist to floor is a static measurement, but you still need a shaft that suits your swing.
Getting clubs that suit will make it easier to improve but comes at a price unfortunately.
There’s a Ping fitting web on Ping.com it will give you a ballpark figure ,but try before you buy is my advice.
