Should I really be changing my irons?

I went to my local range this morning with the idea in my head of trading in my current irons
(tm tour burners) for some ping g15' they have a offer on at the moment.

But before I asked bout trading in I decided to hit a few balls with my burners.

Range was quiet and managed to get in the fitting bay that has trackman.
I won't bore you with all the stats, but was surprised to see I was hitting my 7 iron between
147 & 154 yards.

That got me thinking maybe I shouldn't trade the burners in.

I never asked to try the g15's I didn't like to ask to try them and not buy them.

it's not how far, it's how....
consistently
comfortably from less than perfect lies
do you like the trajectory you get?
can you allign them easily?

etc
etc

in many ways you don't need to try the others to establish that there will be some clubs with some shafts and grips out there somewhere that will do something for you - it's a fact that there will. however, if the answer to the ablve questions doesn't give you a clear need for something tangible to look for in new irons - don't bother looking and enjoy what you have.

My advice would be to 'NOT' change your irons unless you have your heart set on it.

A friend of mine regularly changes his irons as he think it will help his game but guess what? It doesn't.

i have the burner plus irons, and hit around the 150 yrd mark down the range myself.
if they are working for you id leave it for now.

If it helps i had G10 irons and hated them very chunky slightly industrial looking and 1 year later traded them in for Wilson Staff Ci9
Not sure about the G15 but the G20 look better

Agree with StrangelyBrown, if you don't hit them you'll never know. I used to hit my G10 7 iron about 145-150, with my new fitted Amps I'm carrying around 160-165 with my 7 iron. Today I flushed a 7 iron slightly against the breeze and it went 160.

The thing I would recommend is to not limit yourself to one manufacturer or model, the G15's might be on offer but you'll probably find you hit something else much better. I wanted the i20's........

I have got the Burner tour irons but only hit my 7 iron around the 140 mark, how is your dispersion with your current irons ???.
Surely its better hitting 7 iron 150ish in your case nice and straight rather than buying irons that may give you an extra 10 yards but splaying them all over the course, everyone and his dog seem to be more concerned with distance over accuracy.
