Should Electric Trolleys be banned for the under 60s?

If you are under 60, fit and they still have the receipt, then, morally you will be doing the correct thing.

Buy a Mizuno hybrid instead

I carry and I will until I am old and knackered. I like the fact that I can walk anywhere with my stuff and secondly, I don't want to be seen as a big girls blouse that can't lift a bag for a few hours.. :D

I had a swanky powakaddy for a couple of years but got rid of it recently. I never used it. I couldn't be bothered to charge it up and lug it around wherever I played. It just wasn't worth the effort.

It was either Sam Snead or Ben Hogan who said that you should always carry your clubs as it builds up shoulder muscles and these are what you need to hit the ball a long way. I am with them.

I find it shocking when I see juniors with tour bags and powakaddys. I think they look ridiculous and always tell them so. Someone told me the other day that due to health and safety, the county juniors in Sussex have to use electric trolleys as they play so much and the administrators don't want them to get injuries as they could be liable for a claim. I am not sure if this is true but if it is, it is absolutely pathetic.

I generally look favourably on players who carry. It is the right thing to do in my view. You hardly exert yourself at all on a golf course anyway so adding a bit more physical effort can only be beneficial in my view.

Fair enough if you have an injury and can't carry but if you are fit and able, why not?

My question was should under 60s use an electric trolley?

If you are physically unable to pull or carry this is different...

No it wasn't - read the post title again. The OP had no reference to physical restrictions/problems.

I will ask you this in response does this apply to all golfers? If I get rid of my electric trolley would you carry my bag with all the crap I need for all types of weather and give me advice/information?

I'm all for Electric Trolleys!

Hours of fun had switching them on when the owner has just hit their shot and watching them run down the course after their trolley...usually in the wrong direction!

Does anyone know where you can but 'spare' remote controls for those types? That's my next target... :D

"personally" im not against ellecy trolleys, but when you see juniors with them it just makes me laugh. I had to use one a few years back while i was having my back sorted with a chiropractor, but once sorted the trolley got shelved. I think if you can justify the use of them all well and good, but when you see younger players under 40/30/20 using them i think its a down right piss take.

My current bag without clubs in weights about 3.5 lbs, thats a bag and half of sugar. gone are the days of big clumpy heavy leather bags with piss poor straps,

Pretty much bang on the money. But the comment about juniors not being able to carry is total toss. whe i was younger (14/15/16) i used to carry a bag for someone in the morning, have lunch and then caddie for two old boys in the afternoon, yes, one bag on my back in the morning, and two bags in the afternoon. This was back in the day when 90% of bags was leather, and 100% of them all had shite straps that cut my shoulders up.

The arguement about "all my crap" in the bag dont cut it either. if its hot, at most your have a shower jacket in, if its cold, at most your have waterproofs. If you dress suitable you dont need to carry all of your golf clothing owned in your bag. People are often amazed how little i carry, and i always say its not how little its whats needed.

6 balls (3 new 3 scrubbers) just incase
bag of tee's
Couple of spare pencils/ball markers/pitch forks
Storm jacket (leight weight, water proof, warm)
and 13 bats

what more do you need.....

Nice to know we have a fair share of Ladies on this forum...

I shall be carrying this weekend, in the rain and I am not young or classically fit either...

cant see the point in carrying when i have a trolley that does it for me, if i want to feel like i have been round the course i will just go round twice. Why have the possiblity of hurting your back for future years just to look "Good".

( 1 )secondly, I don't want to be seen as a big girls blouse that can't lift a bag for a few hours.. :D

( 1) so its about how you look to others them ?? bad reason to do anything is it not ?
( 2 ) So you DO AGREE with timgolfy then IT IS about hitting it along way . you do suprise me agreeing with tim ..
( 3 ) how many people care who looks favourably on them do you think? as for the right thing to do ?? 80 yard aproach shot... 1 player uses 58* wedge .. 2nd uses pw.. 3rd bumps & runs an 8 .. whats the right thing to do here? or is it about what works for you ?? elec trolley works for some it doesnt for others . if it does then use it, if it doesnt then dont . but whether you look favourable on some one or not should have nothing to do with carrying or elec trolley .. should it ? if your best friend started using one would it change your view of him ? id hope not ? so why have that view of some one you dont know ??

There's no reason carrying should hurt your back unless you walk severely hunched over, putting pressure on your lower back.
