What's that funny colour in the sky this morning?

Ah. Sunshine on Leith. (Risking alienating the 1 Hearts fan on here)

Booked a tee time to play with my pals on Thursday. First swing in over a month. I'm thinking the weather's improving. Woohoo.

John,

We've got that strange sky over the forth as well, bit scary actually feels quite warm and some folk are wearing t shirts and something called sunglasses !!!!

Good luck to you all on your wide and varied golfing travels !

I am committed to just two courses this year: the two courses at my club Cawder. I've got my new Burner irons, 6 lessons booked and already paid for (birthday gift from Mrs SS2), a few holes with my son each Wednesday,a bounce game each Thursday with my mates, a practice session each Friday lunchtime and a medal/tourney each Saturday. Oh, and the occasional Sunday team match too.

In the last 10 years I've never managed more than 30 rounds in a year, which is pretty sad. Handicap has gone from 7.7 to 13.3 during that time.

So, maybe next year I'll venture out to other courses and maybe some GM meets but this year its my local course only

The Old Course at St Andrews is amazing. The feeling on the 18th tee looking up the fairway is something else as is walking in the footsteps of the legends of the game as you go over the Swilken Bridge.

Not the prettiest or most challenging course (except in the wind)but the history and subtlety more than makes up for it.

If you have a chance to play Kingsbarns while you are in the area grab it with both hands. Simply stunning and the welcome is excellent.

Playing tomorrow and hopefully both days at the weekend. Playing in a pro-am at Bicester on 17th July, the GM meet at RA before that and I'm hoping we can get another day sorted at Wimbledon Common so I can visit my old stomping ground.

Well the year has started quietly due to the weather. But, looking forward, I've got a game over in the West at one of the Troon Muni courses in a couple of weeks, Castle Stuart in April, Boys Moray Coast Weekend in May family Hols (inc golf) in July, and who knows what as the season runs towards it's end. In between all that I've got my own club to play at and all the comps to play in. As a bonus I get the chance to play all of the Municipal courses in Edinburgh if I want to. So I'm going to try and play them all at least once before the summer.
Busy year ahead.

I thought Kingsbarns which was a nice course was vastly over-rated. A few very bland holes and to be honest the way it has been built up and portrayed in the media I expected so much more.

Not in the same league as Western Gailes or Machrihanish.
