Hi has anybody played Sherfield Oaks near Basingstoke lately ? , i am looking to play it next week with my dad as i am a crown member and he has a free voucher!.
There are two courses there the Waterloo & wellington , with the Waterloo being the shorter off the two i read.

having not played there i am after anybody who has played the courses and can recommend which one i should book & play?

thanks in advance

I'm a corporate member at Sherfield as its close to the office. The Welly tends to cope a bit better in wet conditions so that may be the best bet for you. I might be playing there myself on Friday so if I do I will get you an update on the condition of the course.

Played the Wellington course yesterday very wet and just about playable. Greens are a bit bumpy and woolly but its too be expected this time of year. Hope for a couple of dry days before you play! Still think this course is the better bet over the Waterloo.

I played it last year , not sure which course , but the 18th was a dogleg left that finished in front of the club house , took it over the trees and landed greenside , nice course , but with all the rain this year i say it be wet

Which course is the 1 with the 1st tee to the right of the clubhouse. I played that last year in a Society. I can remember there is a drivable Par 4 downhill.

Thats the Wellington course. The drivable hole is the 12th, about 250yds from the yellows so yeah only a 3W:D

Thats the Wellington as well.

Just had 2 members from Tylney Park walk in (husband and wife), and sign up for membership straight away !!

Course is playing great, and the car park was packed !

How is this place these days? Group of four of us get together couple of times a year for a knock and once of us got a mail about June and July open days there.

The Wellington is definitely the better course. The Waterloo is a bit like playing across farmers fields.

Ok - that's good to know - the June day (that I can't make) is on the Wellington - the July date (which I can) is on the Waterloo.

As we only meet up a couple of times a year we look to play decent tracks - they needn't be 'proper' championship courses (as opposed to 'marketing blurb' championship) we just like them to have something a little special and/or memorable about them.
