Sorry to ask about driver shafts again but my son is now looking for a new driver shaft, he likes the head of his Superfast 2.0 driver but we now feel its time he got fitted for a shaft. He has just turned 15 and is getting pretty tall and alot more powerful. He plays off a 4 handicap so want the fitting done properly.

Where is the best place to go to get fitted for a new shaft for him ? i dont mind travelling a bit and live near Watford.

thanks

Sounds like a good prospect, 4 handicap at 15. He will still change a lot over the next few years, though, so I would be wary about investing too much right away which is a flexible option . Your best bet might be a Titleist 910 or a TM r11 where you can upgrade the shafts only and sell the old ones on ebay.

If he has a brand in mind, you could go to the manufacturer's HQ, Titleist in Cambs, Callaway in SW London, Mizuno nearby, or go to one of the specialist fitters. Precision Golf in Egham (fairly near Heathrow) is top quality and well suited to good players, although pricey. They will do follow up work as and when he needs it, by mail order if needed.

What's wrong with the shaft he's got ?
If he's got down to 4, it cant be that bad.
Unless he knocking it in the trees all day I'd leave it alone.
If it goes too high, teach him how to hit it lower and if it's too low, teach him how to hit it higher.

My thoughts are, that if there is a better shaft out there that would help his game then i'm quite happy to buy it. He has always had stock shafts, but now he is alot stronger he might benifit from a fitted shaft.

if we decide to go down a new driver route, would the Belfry be the best place ?

No. There are plenty of places closer to where you live that offer the same, or better service.

People from the area will be along shortly to tell you exactly where they are. Although Ethan has already mentioned Precision Golf - There's a review of the place in the review section of this forum.
