I have a bit of an in between swing speed without knowing my exact measurements I am around 95-105mph. I think I am smooth, as in effortless (or lazy!). I currently use a regular shaft but it's pretty robust in the tip. However I am struggling with getting height, as I have to have the face set to max open. I have been fiddling to get the height but then I am struggling to reduce the hook. Is the hook related to me overpowering the shaft?
I have a G20 10.5 degree with an Aldila NV in stiff, but the flight is high again and I just want to knock it down.

I am wondering if I should try a pro launch red in regular ? Any other suggestions?

105mph with a regular would certainly not be helpful if your bad one is a hook.

If it was me I would look to have a fitting rather than trying one specific shaft, gut feel says you will want a stiffer shaft than regular though

Everyone's going to say this, but get fitted for a new shaft/driver. I had an issue with the ball spinning too much and going too left - turns out that I needed a heavier and/or stiffer shaft.

Even if they charge for a fitting what you can learn about your tendencies/delivery will be worth it. See someone who knows what they're doing and they will help you understand what is happening.

Yes I think that would be wise, I'll ask my new club's pro, think he has some flight scope and an open driving range. Just got scared off buying a new driver though!

Be warned though, when I looked at just a shaft/adaptor/grip it varies in price from £80 all the way up to £400 depending on what shaft you want.

Setting the face 'open' actually has the effect of lowering the loft at impact - at 0.6* per degree open! Doing the opposite (setting it closed) might help get the flight up!

Why has your swing speed dropped? Fear of the hook?

I'd definitely recommend a Flightscope/Trackman session - with some different shafts to see the difference they can make.

Prolaunch Red is a low launch/spin shaft, so I doubt that would help your flight.

How high do you tee the ball? A higher tee - and adjusted position - could well be all that's required!

I was just getting too low a flight, my carry could have been longer. I opened the face up knowing I was delofting but to get to neutral the height was not enough. I was thinking I had not enough of a window in adjustment.
The other thing is the last time I was fitted my game went to pot, and I have been playing catch back. I now have my irons in a consistent place, all my fairway options are really good and now it was put the driver in the right place. My driving is consistent, I use the pink castle tee, which has made me really consistent. However I just need a bit of height, shape is good, I don't fight a hook in the max open position I have a gentle draw.
