Seve Trophy; bad attitude!

This is about money really. If it was a million quid a man, the top players would be there.

It isn't and they are not. The rest is PR.

I am inclined to agree with you Snelly.

Whether the top players are right or wrong in missing the event is open to dispute, but in my opinion it leaves a bad taste in the mouth considering how much badge kissing and Seve tears were shed at Medinah last year.

However, I dont think the man himself would have a problem with their stance given his attitude to appearance money in the early 80's.

And you know this for sure?

I think not.

The arsenal team that lost in the league cup last year was the first team, not the reserves. They just lost, no other reason.

We battered them lol.

In all seriousness it was the majority of the first team that played, Wiltshire was class but the rest of the team let him down. And they can't take penalties.

I think with golf its that the players can to a degree pick and choose which comps they want to play in and because of the money they have choosen not to play in this comp.

I'm sorry but I have to say I think it is totally inconceivable to expect the very top players who play all around the world to schedule this meaningless event into their schedule and that a failure to do so is a taint on Seve's memory. I am certain Westwood and the others that have played in the RC with the great man and the early Seve trophy events are on records with how he shaped the European tour and was an icon of the game.

The Seve trophy in last few years has become a watered down affair. Compare the sides in the first event with the current line up and you can see the difference. It arguably does give some players a chance to impress and lay a seed in the RC captains brain but that is about it.
