September GM

Isn't that a bit crazy you will have to read the October golf Monthly to find out about the the Open in July
Why have they pushed the dates so out of sinc is it so they can get the mag out before everyone else.

Ditto. The good lady just handed me mine at dinner.... Cannae wait til the soaps start.

I hear you! Mind you, I am duty bound this evening to take a break at 7:15pm to watch the Aussies getting hammered on Channel 5 ;)

Mine's here too.

I was planning on a few holes tonight but the good lady mentioned the possibility of going to a shopping centre. In order to stay married I chose the latter. I can always play a bit tomorrow night.......hopefully!

As long as they don't make the same mistakes as a competitor mag - I know, I shouldn't have looked, but the train was late - who managed to include closing dates for their competitions that pre-dated the cover date of the mag - then it gets really silly.

morning all
as I have said a few times on here - cover dates are really for the benefit of the newstrade and bear no real relation to 'real time'!
So the idea of reading the Open review in October is pretty far off the mark as you'll actually get the issue where we look back at the Open middle to late August
The reason for the early on sale date is because we brought the on sale date of the August (Harrington) issue which was out Open preview issue forward to make sure it was out there for a goodly time before the Open kicked off otherwise a quarter of the mag would have been out of date pretty quickly.
Bringing that issue forward meant we then had to bring the September (Stenson cover) otherwise August would have sat on the newsstand for 5 weeks. We should get back towards out normal on sale around the 1st of the month by the end of the year.
There isn't an issue of wanting to get it out before the competition as TG publish 13 times a year so there's will always be a big discrepancy between when they hit the shelves and when we do.
Anyway - coverdates aside I hope you enjoy the issue!

Sorry wasn't really a complaint it just seems strange not to have the July mag in July if the dates are not relevant why have them ?

I guess because every body else does.

I have read here before that the GM staff refer to the issues by the cover photo, not the date, as the dates are meaningless. I guess hence the Stenson comment above.

Got mine today, but was confused-easily done at my age-on reading the report on the NE v NW match, which I unfortunatly missed, that TonyN played for the NE,and KeefG for the NW.I can`t believe Tony would desert the NW to play for the Yorkshire Puddings :) :)

I have to say I got my copy today and I'm not being biased or brown nosing to Mike and the GM guys but I think its one of the best editions I've ever read. Its full of brilliant articles, the regular columns and has some great tips and advice. Well done.
