So when it comes to old sticks nearly all of us have an old sticks stash whether it's at the club, in the boot/garage or in RickG's case all of the above..... But.... Are they being kept from the right reasons?

1) can't bare to sell them at their value as you paid more and would rather keep them than take the huge loss

2) there might be that day where the new shiney stick doesn't do as its told in which case you can go back to the old gamer ( in which case why did we buy that new expensive club(s) anyway

3) you just haven't got around to it.

Interested to hear people's excuses for their stash of used to be but not so shiney sticks

I'm probably no.2.

I always remember when I used to hit them brilliantly and feel that perhaps I could still do again. However experience shows me that once *they* go off the boil (it's never me that does :D) the old magic can neve ge recaptured.

My 7 Wood's living on borrowed time. I used to walk up and just smash it high, long and straight but this past month *it's* started topping and smothering stuff left.

I've warned it to pull its socks up so we'll see...

My old set of irons have had a 3 wood, SW and putter added and are now residing in the office over in Dublin. They get used when I fly over there.

I am a bit sentimental and do find it hard to move on clubs, especially old favourites or things that I have bought as birthday/Christmas presents, even if the chances of them being used again is remote. My Ram Zebra putter and Callaway Hawkeye driver being good examples.

Held on to my TP21's which I bought new in 1997 until last month, when I donated them to Oxfam. They were in good nick, but hadn't been in the bag since 2009 and in truth weren't going to make a comeback. Hopefully will get some money for a good cause and might give someone a chance to experience the Mizuno magic at a bargain price.

Don't really have more than a dozen, 15 or so and its spare irons or extra clubs mostly

Might need a half set for a PP to have a game or maybe I change the driver out for the 3w wood if the course is tight, also a couple for the range that might live in the boot of the car (& my OCD says I cant separate my current irons for too long)

Or might have a 5 club challenge that needs different length spread

Also useful to have a few that can be stuck in a bag and flown back & forth with relies to give extra baggage allowance

All 3 and most likely 4 5 and 6 too.

Awful at getting rid of any clubs. Last head count there was 119 various shafts with heads attached in England. Not quite as many back in Ireland. Lol

The only stuff that doesn't get sold immediately is the knackered/old clubs that would struggle to make a quid.......

I hardly ever get rid of anything. They form an increasingly large pile in the corner of the garage.

I guess I'm joust too lazy to do anything with them.

Nostalgia.

The wooden shafted round headed round grooved 8 iron I used when I started.

Gave away the normal sets to aspiring new players- isn't that the way the majority of us start.

As someone who has bought from folk selling their oldies-but-goodies for some time, I have no qualms about selling them - as there is little, if any, loss! Was tempted to keep 1 set of the TM300s though - there were 5 to choose from at one stage (6 in all) as I was equivalent to RickG for a while - set in each of the car, Scotland, Club, mate's and home!

Still got loads of old faithful Drivers, spare heads, shafts and whole Drivers though.

I don't like to hoard stuff so i flog-on most of my kit. Saying that I still have my old Mizuno Pro blades in the shed. I started my career with these in the 80s!

I'll see that and raise you my Titleist tour pro blades I started with in the 70's:eek:

I still get the 2 iron out for a laugh, still looks great though

Tend to get rid. Got a few bits to move on shortly actually, will need to get some pics done.

Kept my grandad's old blades that I played with as a kid. Forgan ones from when they made good clubs in St Andrews rather than the pap they punt these days.

I sometimes trade clubs in and sometimes keep them. When I keep them, it's usually because I can't be bothered putting them on ebay for all the profit they'll generate.

I've got 4 or 5 spare clubs. Eventually I'll have a spare half set that visitors/kids can use.
