You shouldnt even think about entering UPC/EAN numbers by hand, get yourself a barcode scanner. You should be able to download an app for Iphone, Android, Blackberry that allows your camera on your phone to decode barcodes. In the industry we call it a cam wedge, this means that a normal camera takes a picture of a code, then clever software recognises a barcode in the image and decodes it. The scanned data is then converted into keystrokes into your application - like pocket word, excel etc - like you typed it in yourself.
If none of this makes sense and you are serious about scanning codes on all of your CD's then I would happily loan a dedicated barcode scanner that you can hook up to a PC via USB.

It makes some sort of sense as I think HID has used something like that and you can scan stuff in a supermarket and price check. Same sort of thing? I have a smart phone (Android) but am not a smart user so will have a look and if I can't figure it out I'll let you know. Counted up and it's 120+ CDs - what a lot of money "wasted"
