Seem to have Cured my Slice - Will it Last?

Tried most things to tame my wild slice with the driver, nothing has worked. Until this evening at the range. While surfing at work I picked up a tip which was to play the ball nearer the middle of the stance. Logic was that if you stretch to reach the ball the clubface opens. Every instruction I've ever seen for the driver is to play it off your left heel. So moved the ball back gradually, and guess what? As it came back the slice lessened until a slight draw appeared ! Felt a bit weird hitting it from there mind. Now will this hold up on the course at the weekend? Has this worked for any of you guys?

dont think it will last you will probably get a few push shots. if you wanna hit a draw it starts with the shoulder turn. Just keep practicing see what comes of it. Hope it does work for you . Try teeing your ball up higher or lower i know range tees are fixed but you can try it on the course.

It's a classic cure. It simply means that you have moved the ball to a point where your swing is in-to-out and therefore producing draw spin. Unfortunately it's symptomatic of lack of weight transfer in your swing, but as long as you mainain your original swing, it'll work.

By plonking the ball in the middle of your stance all you're actually doing is masking faults within your swing. A driver needs to be played from the inside of your left heel.

Next time you're at the range try this. It does work. Tee the ball up just inside your left heel (as you should do for a driver), then place your driver headcover about 3 inches outside the line of the ball facing towards the target. Then away you go as per normal. By having the headcover where it is it forces you to approach the ball on an in to out swing path. Get the swing plane right and the ball will happily head pretty much where you want it to, more often than not with a slight draw. Get it wrong and you're ball will go one direction and your headcover will head off in another.

Doesn't it get embarassing having to stop all the other bays while you go get your head cover?

Err..........possibly yes. Best to try this drill on a quiet day at the range when nobody else is looking.

Try this. Make a normal swing but instead of looking at the ball look at a spot 2 inches behind it and about 3/4 inch inside the ball and swing the club head over this spot. This will ensure you approach the ball from the inside. don't worry! you'll never miss the ball :)

as alot of you know, i have a wild slice i am working on. I am really concentrating on keeping my arms close to my body, shortening the swing and rotating more. It feels uncomftable at the moment but is working. Results and Vid to follow. But as previously mentioned best thing is get a vid on here and these guys will sort you out, They have done for me (almost)

When I first started I asked for advice on curing my power fade.... one piece of advice I got, and it really worked, was to make sure you turn your HIPS as near to 90 degrees as well as your shoulders.

I still slice, but a lot less frequently.. I have even hit a few draw shots which were superb!!!!

Hope this helps.

ps Also took DHM's advice and had to do the long lonely walk down the range.

Don't worry about that, we've all been there.

As silly as the drill sounds it is really good for getting you to come into the ball from an it to out swing path.

If it really doesn't work for you and you blast your headcover to pieces then I promise to buy you a new one ;)
