This weekend sees the start of the best competition we do at my home club. There is a board for it (always good), and plenty of scope for side bets.

The comp is three rounds, saturday, sunday, and following saturday, and comprises rounds of stableford in the following formats: foursomes, then greensomes and then fourball better ball to finish with.

The last day allows for big moves up the league table as it is the easiest format, provided you are still in contention after the first two.

We have side bets of 5,5,5 per round with another 5 to the overall highest with another two teams, so need to play well (or better than the others).

Really fun format, and massively popular at the club. Teams can be mixed, or all men or all women, and there are prizes for each round and overall results.

My partner plays off 4, so the pressure is on me to not let him down (again).

Roll on Saturday......

That would be mighty fun for the people who go through - but god help the ones who fail - 3 days of comps that you cant enter.

Good luck - keep us updated.

Try not to think about it and more importantly enjoy yourself, you'll find the more you can relax and enjoy it the better you will play.

So good luck and keep us updated on your progress.

In ireland this weekend in all clubs we have a charity rumble for the national childrens hospital-€75 per team, club winners go forward to the provincial championship i.e Munster, Leinster, Connaught and Ulster, the 4 provincial winners get a weeks holiday in the ALgarve with a four day competition. The competition is well sponsored with a couple of high value sponsors.

What a great competition and a worthy cause.
