Scratch foursomes

FGS am I not even allowed to have an opinion on this forum now. [see my first post on this thread]

Ach DfT - I'm on your side (though that may of any benefit). I too get fed up with folks jumping down your throat or being (often rudely) dismissive of a view you might hold or express.

What I like about scratch foursomes is that a good foursomes pairing on their day can compete with and even defeat a lower handicap foursomes pairing that is playing well. I find it a very challenging and thje most satisfying form of matchplay golf.

lol very true, the yes were very vocal and I seem to recall they didnt like anyone elses opinion.... alegedly.

Or you could say that the BT/NO brigade were at times extremely dismissive of arguments put up by some in support of a YES or challenging the views expressed by NOes.

I find it difficult to understand the rationale of a low handicap golfer comparing scratch foursomes with the likes of 4BBB, greensomes and god forbid Texas scramble. There is more pressure on the individual player in scratch foursome than any other form of golf.
IMO...........If I am still allowed one.

When has someone compared those competitions on this thread ?

I don't quite get the implied sarcasm......Scratch foursomes are generally only played at club match and county/region or international level, no problem with that as you will only get picked if you are good enough.

Are you having a moment Doon Frae Troon? On a chitty chatty forum why would I bother implying some Sarcasm, gee whiz other than noticing that your on here every day I don't even know you

I agree with you. Scratch golf is good golf whatever the format, I don't know what all the fuss is about giving shots or why someone would want them when it's just to make up for their lack of ability. If it's foursomes that rock your boat then yeah it's good

Sorry, I did not realise that you were being serious about ditching handicaps.

Deadly serious and there's no need for an apology. Maybe not playing foursomes but I know several groups of golfer's that don't bother with handicaps, it's not the law! Low, mid or high, if groups are happy in bare feet then bash on

I also love scratch foursomes and would rate it the hardest but most rewarding format of the game. when it clicks it's divine. Of course it doesn't click very often.

Can see why folks have commented it's only half a game of golf and guess I'm lucky enough to play a lot that I don't see it that way but see it as an opportunity to play a different format. One that the Americans a s we know struggle with :D
Was very aware yesterday on trying to not hit bad shots to put my partner in trouble and we really clicked on the back 9 playing it in level par.
