I've just bought a Scotty Cameron Futura X5 and after using it a couple of times it feels a bit different to the ones I've used off the shelf. I had a look last night and it turns out mine has two 15g weights on the bottom. The other Scotty Futura's at Clarkes last night both had 10g weights.

Do you know why mine might have 15's? Do Scotty ship them like that as standard? Or will the guy that owned it last have put them in? Also, what are the advantages/disadvantages of having more weight in the head? Should I look at replacing them with 10's?

What length is it?

My understanding (which could well be wrong mind!) is that the shorter putters have heavier weights in the head?

It's a 34". I'm pretty sure I've used a 33 in a shop that still had 10's in it.

I told you I could be wrong ;)

Probably just preference from whoever had it before, some people like heavier weight putters others light. In terms of advantages and disadvantages I don't really know, I like slightly heavier putters as I have a wonky putting stroke so is a bit more stable!!

from what i could find, the 34 inch version came with 15g weights as standard. the 33 inch version should have had 20g weights in it.

You can buy them for peanuts on ebay and some people buy and change them to suit the feel that they prefer
If I wanted to change the weights on my Scotty eBay is the last place I would go! The cheap as chips are fake and if be suprised if weight is correct.
I've got a 33"m1 and that's got 20s in my old fastback was the same

I have 35 inch Studio Select Newport 2, came with original 10g weights in the head, I recently got 2 x 30g weights from Ebay (measured them on my kitchen scales to make sure they were correct weight which they were). it has made my stroke a lot more stable since fitting them, but it's all down to personal preference.

If you don't want to buy weights from ebay be prepared to pay through the nose for them.

All Scotty's from us will come as follows; 33" - 20g, 34" - 15g and 35" - 10g weights in the bottom.

This is to complete the balance of the putter to make the 33" and 35" feel the same. If you need to have the weights changed, you can return the putter to the factory and we can put heavier or lighter weights in.

Within 1/5th of a gram were the 25g weights I bought. Don't care if they are genuine or not.
