My three regular partners all have invested in Scotty Cameron putters. All claim that their new putters are great, make them better putters, more confident etc etc.

So, 2 questions:
1. Are they worth the money
2. Are they substantially better than older (2000) equipment and if so why.

Has anyone got one and not liked it ??

The look inspires confidence as they are quality pieces of kit and the feel off the face is much nicer than any insert I have tried. Are they worth the money...jury's out on that one.

I've got three. A redX, a studio select newport 1.5 and a circa 62 no.2.

I like my RedX, although I probably putt just as well, or badly with the others. I like the stability of the redX, but prefer the roll off the studio select. The 62 lives in the naughty cupboard.

I like the quality of the machining. To me, Ping putters never look quite right, and feel a bit toy like, and Oddessey putters always sit closed for me.

I don't like inserted putters, as I find the roll to feel dead. I would only consider a milled putter.

So yes, worth the money. Do I putt better? Probably not, although it helps if you like the look of your putter.

That said, I can afford it, so why not? I have never seen anything I prefer, and can't see me buying another putter for a long time. Putting is not part of the game I have issues with.

SS2 I went to Manchester and got fitted for mine last week (http://forums.golf-monthly.co.uk/showthread.php?36821-My-putter-fitting).

I tried Rife, Odyssey, PING, Yes!, TM and a few others while I was there.

I tried all manor of heads and brands. Turns out I need a mid mallet, hence the Scotty in my sig. I was really torn between that and a Rife Abaco which was really nice to putt with but the feel off the face was a little inconsistant for me. The feel off the Scotty apart from being buttery soft was very consistant and what swung it for me.

Took it out for the first time at the weekend and it played very well, even on greens that, at this time of year, are not ideal. Gave a good consistant end-over-end roll and definatley helped with my scoring.

Big  from me.

I don't own one but my take on putters is, if you believe you can putt well with it, that's half the battle. Scotties have a reputation as the best, or among the best, so if you have one, you can be pretty sure you have the best gear in play. That removes any further doubts about tinkering and chopping and changing, leaving you to focus on the operator, not the machine.

I have mine on loan from a friend, before that I had another Scotty on loan from the same guy. I am thinking I should not be posting about it as he may recall if i remind him too much. It fills me with confidence and although it is too long for me it puts suck a nice roll on the ball and feels so good off the face.

Truth is I have never picked up a Scotty that I did not putt well with, I just love them. I feel my distance control is the thing that the current one helps me with and that was something I really needed.

Try one out see how you like it!

Of course some of it is hype but golf is a mental game.

I have a Studio Select squareback 2 and it's probably the best putter i've owned and played with, it just feels so balanced when using it mind you i do quite like the look of the new Studio Select models in black mist.

They are expensive for what they are.
But if they make you putt better, if they get the ball in the hole more often then they're worth every penny.

I had a California Del Mar and the look and feel were amazing. Had no problem with getting the correct weight of the putt but alignment was awful hence why im using the Odyssey. Great putter for the more confident putter.

It's a putter, you use it more than any other club in your bag. You'll pay £199+ for a new top of the range driver which you'll probably only pull out 8/9/10 times a round tops. I'd rather pay £199 for a putter than a Driver unfortunately it doesn't work like that most of the time. That being said, when I was trying out a load of putters before Christmas I gave a Scotty a whirl and didn't like it anywhere near as much as the Ping Wolverine that I eventually bought at half the price of the Scotty.

Youre ok, the fastback is probably 4th in line to go in the bag here at the moment (if you want to cut it down feel free to)

I currently own 3 scottys, the Kombi is the one being gamed, the Newport 2.5 is my default putter that I return to when anything else stops working and the fastback was an experiment last yr which seems to work better in Als hands than it did in mine. I also have a couple of other putters but much prefer the feel of a milled face and invariably of those with a milled face its the scottys i like best (thats not to say there isnt others out there that work as well)

I picked up a Scotty Pro-Platinum relatively cheap, albeit it is a bit scruffy. I can honestly say it is the best putter I have ever owned, the weight and feel off the face is extremely nice. I can't compare it to every brand out there, but I feel I have a quality product and one that I am very happy with.

I use a scotty red x5 and it will take something very special for me to take it out of my bag. I bought it from a forum member and it's by far my best golf buy ever. Best £60 I've ever spent.

I have the Scotty that was only released a few months back and to put it politely, it's sex on a stick!

I love it, it feels great and it look's great.

Never been a fan of SC. I was in Silvermere recently and the new Odyssey milled model and the Ping Anser range looked equally good and in the case of the ODyssey even better and cheaper. At the end of the day if you can't putt and put a good stroke on it, a £20 Dunlop or £200 SC isn't going the ball in the hole.

Exactly, I use a dunlop and putt reasonably, my brother in law has one of those huge ghost efforts and putts like a one eyed parrot with a wonky leg...it's not all about the equipment...there is some talent required.
