Barclay's have pulled out of sponsoring the Scottish Open. I wonder if it really is market pressures or an brand image decision that they've made.

who's next for the event then?

Id love to see it being sponsored by a well known local firm along the lines of Bells or Johnny Walker (I know they are Diageo now but still).

Spearmint Rhino as official sponsor - the organisors have been trying to entice Tiger to play in the event for years -he'd be there in a shot.

Attractinga sponsor as large as Barclays could be a tough ask in this market (Irish Open has struggled on the sponsorship front lately), but we have a prime weekend, for a tournament on links = perfect Open prep for the big guns

This year's weather/floods were hopefully a one-off, and yes a 'local' firm would be great to see.

With Barclay's declining their renewal, you can only hope George O'Grady has been negotiating in the background as prep for this announcement.

You have to feel sorry for Barclays though as the last two Scottish Opens were disrupted by some pretty poor weather. Perhaps they feel they aren't getting value for money. Hope someone does step in though as we need as many top events in the UK as we can get

Agreed Homer. It would be a real shame to lose the Scottish. Bells sponsored the event whilst it was at Gleneagles.

On a seperate note, those two holes on the super coiffured ones course look terrible. I know it's an artists depiction of them but they look so non links it's unbelievable. I also noticed on his website the link to the golf information. 'The World's Greatest Course' I think i can go out on a limb here 'The Donald' and say that i'd bet my bank balance against yours that it won't be.

Donald Trump will step in as major sponsor and move it to his new course. http://www.trumpgolfscotland.com/
Wouldnt surprise me!
First look at his website - intresting stuff.
My Bro lives in Aberdeen and has been along for a walk, reckons its gonna be special.

Plenty of tee times available at £200.00 a pop on the 15th July next year

Carts
The usage of motorized golf carts is solely for those who have a documented physical condition which prohibits them from being able to walk the course during a round of golf. The club encourages walking play or the use of a pull cart or trolley.
I like the place already :D

I think GM need to send the Forum up there to test it, at a bargain rate of course. :D :D :D
